Dead Nation is a pretty good game, despite a few issues. 0

Thanks to the Sony "Welcome Back" program, I got my hands on Dead Nation. So, thanks Sony.   But let's get down to the review. Dead Nation is a dual-joystick shooter set in it's own variation of the zombie apocalypse. Though that description doesn't really sound all that interesting, Dead Nation is actually a pretty good game, save for a few issues. First I will note all of the things I enjoyed while playing Dead Nation.  The shooting itself, while not exactly revolutionary, is still pretty tigh...

Sin & Punishment: Star Successor. 0

In this day and age it's hard to find a game that is not afraid to completly destroy you. But i've noticed in the last couple of years that some developers are making games that do just that. For example, Demon's Souls, a game that demands you to get better at the game before you'll be able to get anywhere. And it's these kinds of games that really get me excited. The fact that I actually have to have some sort of skill to complete the game, makes me wonder why things got so easy. Now I'm not sa...

Alien Swarm, the best free game out there. 0

I think I've said this about 1000 times before, but I love steam. And now I love it even more thanks to Alien Swarm, an awesome FREE game. The game itself is pretty simple, it's basically a top down version of Left 4 Dead, in space. You choose from one of four classes, Medic,Tech, Officer and Special Weapons. However, not everyone can be one class, since the game requires at least one person to be tech. And you're going to want to stick together since this game, just like Left 4 Dead requires th...

Alan Wake is a atmospheric thriller that deserves to be played. 0

I love Remedy, in fact I have no problem saying that they are one of my favorite developers. And it's on that note that I step into the realm of Alan Wake, Remedys long awaited survival-horror game.  In Alan Wake you play as a famous writer named ( obviously ) Alan Wake. The story follows Alan and his wife Alice as they take a vacation in a small town called Bright Falls. As you may have already guessed, things don't go as planned and Alan finds himself in the middle of the woods with no answer ...

Kratos is out for blood... again. 0

The God of war series (for me) has been an interesting one. On one hand I absolutely love the first one from top to bottom. But I found the second one a little cluttered, with too many mindless box/switch puzzles. So where does the first one lie? well, let me first say that I really hoped that the final installment ( as far as I know) of the Gow trilogy, would recapture the amazing pacing and balance of the original. And GoW III does just that, to a certain extent. My absolute favorite thing abo...

No more heroes 2 is crazy, but it's also crazy fun. 0

I loved the first No more heroes, in fact it's one of my favorite games of the past 5 years. I don't know why I loved it so much.. oh wait, I DO, it was over-the-top and the first true M rated game on the Wii. So when I heard that Suda 51 was making a sequel, I was stoked. But also a little worried, I mean, how can you top the craziness of the original. Well, it seems that Suda had the answer all along and he managed to put it in this game.   Travis is back!!I'll start off by listing all of the ...

Max Payne 2 : The fall of max payne 0

I remember watching my older brother play the first Max Payne. It was the first time I'd ever seen Slow-motion in a game and it was also the first time that I'd seen such a complex plot in an action game. The first max payne was simply a gem, but is the sequel just as praiseworthy?  Yeah, I know, I'm late to the Max Payne 2 Review party. But having completed it for the first time less then two weeks ago. I stil find myself thinking back on it, a rare thing indeed. I don't know, maybe it's the da...

Assassins creed 2, review. 0

I ( like many others) really enjoyed the first AC, but realised how much better that game could have been. AC II sets out to do just that, it's an amazing overhall of the originals traversal/ stealth/ action gameplay and a very deep game as well. Unlike the first game, there is actually an interesting story concerning the "Assassin" Ezio, even if it simply boils down to the basic revenge plot. It's actually the ties to the main story of AC that makes Ezio's plot so interesting, where Altair's st...

Alone in the dark is a very unique, yet flawed game. 0

Now everyone likes to talk smack about this game for one reason, it has a ton of flaws. However I'm here to tell you that Alone in the dark: Inferno is a truly unique game with a lot of really cool mechanics. But, I'm also here to tell you that if you aren't willing to get past its control/ technical problems then you might just end up hating it.  The story in the AitD is a pretty basic horror game plot, you wake up from some deep sleep and have no idea who you are all while crazy monsters are k...

One of the most bizzare and fun games I've ever played. 0

My experience with the Katamari series started with beautiful katamari on the 360. But in no more then 30 minutes I just couldn't wrap my head around the controls and couldn't even get past the first level. But something strange happend, though I hated beautiful katamari I still found myself wanting to play more of it. So, I decided to rent Katamari forever and I have to say, I loved it. For some strange reason the PS3 controller just feels alot better then the 360, and that really helped me get...

If you have questions, Kojima has the answers. 0

I would like to start this review with a little description of my history or lack- thereof with the Metal Gear Solid series. I've always been interested in the plot and characters but the overall gameplay never really ( at least back when I was 9) allowed me the means to see the whole thing. Thankfully with the help of the internet, I got a very good ( though not entirely clear) explaination on most of the characters and where they were coming from.   I came into MGS4 looking for answers and wel...

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. 0

By now you probably know Nathan Drake from his exploits in Uncharted 2, but what you might not know is that he went on a little adventure about 3 years prior to that. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, tells the story of Nathan Drake a young and brave ( well mostly) explorer who, sets out on a treasure hunt with his buddy Sully. But of course it's not that simple, in fact it's quite complicated. But, to make a long story short, Sully made some bad deals and now he, Nate and a news reporter named Elena ...

Ratchet & Clank, now in glorious HD! 0

I've been a fan of the R&C games for a couple of years now and when I got my PS3 for christmas a month ago I couldn't wait to play the Future series. So, how is R&C's first next-gen game? well, it's great, for the most part.  Tools of destruction plays the same as any game in the R&C series, you have a ton of weapons and you'll go around shooting bad guys, breaking boxes and jumping platforms. The main draw of the game is still upgrading you're weapons and armor, though the platformi...

Uncharted 2 is simply this, an amazing action-packed thrill ride. 0

Now I'm not the first person to say this about Uncharted 2: Among Thieves but, dude, this game is crazy. And I mean it in the best of ways, simply put Uncharted 2 is a blockbuster action/ adventure without the dissapointing length of most all blockbuster movies/games. The story starts out in a pretty bizzare way, with the protaganist, Nathan Drake sitting in an old train car covered in blood. What follows is one of the games most tense and beatiful sequences. And thats pretty much how Uncharted ...

Left 4 dead 2 is packed with new stuff, and it's a lot more fun. 0

I absolutly loved the first Left 4 dead. So much in fact, that I had no problem with valve releasing a sequel only 1 year later. And for those of you out there that think that this should have been an expansion pack, let me tell you that this game has WAY to many things in it, for it to fit in a single download. First off there's the 5 new campaigns, each with 4 to 5 missons a piece, and all of them are fun to play. Replaying these campaigns however is a differen't story, since only two of them ...

Size matters is a fun, bite-sized version of R&C. 0

I've always like ratchet and clank, sadly this is the only one i've had the chance to play from start to finish. But i can say with great confidence that this is a great portable version of R&C. In fact this is just a great portable game even without  Isomniac behind it. Like all the games in the series you'll go through about a dozen differen't planets, shooting and smashing your way through various robot foes. And as always, collecting bolts to buy new weapons. And this is where the game h...

Trine proves that you don't need to be original to be great. 0

First off I would like to thank steam for the awesome deals that they have. Which led to me picking up trine, a bright, beautiful and overall great action platformer. The plot of trine seems like it was ripped straight out of an old fairytale book.  It all starts when a knight a theif and a wizard all find a glowing shard. As soon as they touch it, they get sent off to an other world, a world infested with undead. You'll spend your time with trine ( All 13 levels of it) solving physics based puz...

Littlebigplanet will put a big goofy smile on your face. 0

I have to say, I haven't had this much fun with a game in a while. But what makes this game, let alone a PSP game so fun? Well it's simple, charm. In fact this game may be the most charming and happy game since Locoroco. And it features the ever so gleeful Sackboy with his big toothless smile and endless optimism. But  it's not just sackboy that makes this game charming, from the big colorful levels and big cardboard characters, all with unique personalities and problems. But enough about the lo...

Assassins creed is a beautiful game, but it has some flaws. 0

At first glance, Assassins creed is a much better looking version of prince of persia: sands of time. But once you play it you will realise that it's much more then a prince of persia- splinter cell combo. It is in fact a great game, but repetition makes it a hit or miss type of experience. I really enjoyed this game, it is gorgeous and VERY detailed, not only from a technical point of view, but also from a gameplay point of view. Jumping from one rooftop to another can be very exciting, but als...

Borderlands is so fun, you might just look past it's little flaws 0

Borderlands is  one of my favorite games of 09 so far, It's a combonation of Diablo and Call of duty and despite some flaws it's a great game. The first thing that caught my attention when I first saw the game was the look, the cartoony visuals manage to add humor to the gore and thats pretty great. But it's the addictive gameplay that will keep you playing, the constant flow of loot and quests will keep you saying " Just one more quest" well into the early hours of the morning. The shooting is ...

Shadow complex is metroidvania for a new generation. 0

I absolutly love this game, it's fun and addictive and even after I finished the game I still feel like playing through it a second time. The best thing about the game is how it brings a dieing breed back to life. It gives you plenty of reason to play through again and again, On top of that, the game plays and looks great with only slight problems in both. I only have a few issues with Shadow complex, one is the cliched story, if the gameplay wasn't as addictive as it is the game just wouldn't be...

Halo 3:ODST 0

Now it's easy to look at Halo 3: ODST as just a easy cash-in for bungie, but once you play it and see how much new stuff is here, you might ( like I did) see a truly great new game. In the story mode of ODST you'll play as the Rookie, who by some very tragic events finds himself all alone in the dark war torn city of New mombasa.   Your time with the rookie is spent mostly on looking for your lost sqaud, you'll find evidence of they're presence all around the city and once you find one of these ...

Dead Space: Extraction 0

Extraction is the prequel to the original Dead Space and it puts you in the perspective of a number of different people. What this game does best is tell a great story all while giving you plenty of things to kill, on top of that it has a few truly great moments ( The end of chapter nine is great ) That help make extraction a worthwhile journy, even if it's only worth going through once. The technical side of the game is also great, though the framerate slows down in heavy action and the game fr...

Jade Empire. 0

If you've played any of biowares many RPG's in the past ( Kotor,NWN) then you'll know that bioware has a nack for great storys and deep gameplay. However, with Jade Empire biowares first true "Action RPG" they seem to focus more on a unique setting and great story and less on deep and compelling gameplay. The surprising thing is... that doesn't hold Jade Empire back from being enjoyable. Like any good bioware game you start out as a normal person oblivious to you true destiny, untill of course t...

Knights of the old republic II: The sith lords. 0

Kotor II: the sith lords is the sequel to biowares award winning RPG set in the star wars universe. Now I haven't finished the first one but I can tell you that this sequel is very good, maybe not better then the first but still good. The best thing about Kotor II is the character building, from leveling up to getting new gear and choosing between the Light and Dark sides of the force it's easy to get immersed. The story is also pretty good, though it is kind of predictable, it centers around yo...

Truly a joy to play and this is coming from a new beatles fan. 0

Now I've known about the beatles my entire life ( 15 years) but I never really listened to them. When I heard that harmonix was making a beatles rock band I thought " What a great way for me to listen to the beatles AND enjoy more rock band" And all I can sya is wow. Not only is this the best rock band in terms of gameplay, but it's also the best band-centric game so far. I can also say that I am now a beatles fan. Harmonix has done a great job with  every detail of the beatles 7 year music care...

If you don't want to pay a monthly fee, then play guild wars. 0

Guild wars is a fantastic idea, make a pvp focused mmo with no monthly fee. But is guild wars fun? If your into pvp and don't mind a few issues then yes, guild wars is a very enjoyable game. The one big factor to guild wars is even though the level cap is low (20) the game is jam packed with hundreds of skills. If your going to be of any use during pvp battles you'll have to learn your class and this is where the pve section of the game comes into play. The factions campeign is rather short ( ar...

Step into the darkness. 0

The darkness is an FPS created by the same studio that made The chronicles of riddick. And it just happens to be a great shooter with a fantastic story. In the game you play as jackie estacado, the game opens with jackie riding in the back of a car on his 21st birthday. From there, well... things get a little strange, Not only does jackie find out that his uncle is trying to kill him but he also becomes possesed by a demon. This demon will constantly talk to jackie and tell him to do "evil thing...

A sequel that doesn't disappoint. 0

To start things out I just want to say that if you haven't played the first Kingdom hearts, you really should, it will not only give you a more fullfilling experince with the sequel but it will also show you how much the game has changed and improved. But if you don't want to play the first one, thats okay. Now on to the reveiw, Kingdom hearts starts of with you a boy named roxas, wait... wasn't sora the main character?. Well not for the first couple of hours he's not, anyway. After your done wi...

A a great start to one of my favorite action RPG series. 0

The idea behind Kingdom hearts is kind of insane. Bring both sqaureenix and disney characters together in on big fantastic story. Does square pull it of? Yes. You'll spend your time going through about a dozen different disney themed worlds, fighting these things called heartless. In the game you play as Sora, a young spikey haired boy, He meets up with donald and goofy and set out to find soras lost friends Riku and kairi. The story is great, both sincere and exciting, offering about 40 hours o...

Guitar hero 2 for the next generation. 0

The idea behind GH 2 for the 360 was to bring this famous franchise to the next gen system, is it any good? Oh yeah. The formula is simple, take a fake plastic guitar with 5 colored buttons and a strum bar and LET THERE BE ROCK! I myself own and have played both versions of this game and I have to say this is the best version you can get, hands down. The 360 version includes, 10 new songs, upgraded graphics and a sweet new explorer guitar. My only complaint with this sequel is some poor song cho...

I never though bullet bending could be so, dull. 0

At first glance Wanted: weapons of fate looks awesome. Cool ninja looking guy with gun? check, The ability to bend the path of bullets? check. An interesting story with twists and gameplay that stays fresh and cool for the entire campaign? Ugh.. no. There are a lot of problems that hold this game back from being worth more then a weekend playthrough. The first is the fact that the story in the game is.. well, very boring and the action behind it gets old about halfway through. Even though the ga...

Breaking little colored gems has never been so addictive. 0

If you own a Psp and don't have Puzzle quest: challenge of the warlords, then you're missing out. Why? well simply because it's one of the most addictive, value packed games on the psp. You'll start out by picking a class ( warrior, druid, knight etc) Giving your puzzle hero a name and then your ready to break some faces in with your gem smashing skills, well something like that. The game works around a simple gem breaking system where you match 3 or more gems of the same color or gems with the ...

Phoenix wright: ace attorney is the first of three games on the DS. In this chapter you'll meet phoenix wright a newbie attorney. You'll learn how to investigate crimescenes and battle in court for a innoscent virdict. But all is not well in this law based game, My bigest complaint with the game is that some of the cases are prolonged to the point of boredom. Dracula isn't so tough this time around. 0

Castlevania: portrait of ruin, is the second castlevania game to be released on the DS and its great. First and foremost, if your a castlevania fan then PoR is going to be a familier and easy experience. What makes PoR so forgiving is the fact that not only do you have 2 characters under you control, but the game is set up to make sure you can get tons of gold and get to a shop with little to no effort wherever you may be. The only time you might be challenged is at the last couple of boss fight...

Spend some time in the wasteland, you'll love it. 0

Fallout 3 is the long awaited third entry in the Fallout franchise. While the past games focused on a more diablo style gameplay, Fallout three ( Made by bethesda, creators of the elder scrolls series) Plays more like a turned based RPG/ FPS. The most notable feature in the game is V.A.T.S, When in V.A.T.S the game pauses and lets you pick, what enemy you want to shoot and where you want to shoot them( head, legs, arms etc.) And it's here where the game is at it's best. Not only does V.A.T.S giv...
