I'm a crowdfunding researcher so I just have to give a few points to this...

By the way, nice blog. It made me think.

With Kickstarter and other crowdfunding sites/companies there are rules in place for funding ANY project. When a user funds a game, the project's owner sets what the "goodies" are when they fund the game, however, these users do not become "stakeholders" or even part of the staff. Let's say you surf around and found a blog you really like. Then you see a "donate to keep this blog running" button and since you like the blog so much or believe it has potential, you decide to donate. Do you then communicate to the editor of the blog telling them what to write, how to write it, and when to write cause you "contributed" to the blog? Of course not. You're just helping someone out. So the same applies with funding a game via crowdfunding.

People are putting too much into this. It's simply individuals who think something sounds cool enough to donate money. That's how charities work. When the charity doesn't exist anymore or you might hear news of them doing something foul, you don't go sue for your money back. You suck it up and move on. If you can't bare to be apart from your money then don't give it away.

Also, on Kickstarter specifically, one of the rules in place is a time limit. Each project has a certain time to obtain funds for the project. If they do not make the amount they signed the project up for, ALL THE MONEY that was funded goes back into the user's account. So no harm no foul.

It is true that this generation of Gamers have a lot of entitlement where it shouldn't be. I would say about this is that if you are so worried about where your money is going then I suggest you stop buying the things that give you worry. It's really simple. We all have choices. But if you choose, then don't complain about your decision too. In my case, I try not to buy launch games because I ended up buying games that weren't worth what I paid for. My solution is to wait a few months until price goes down. But you don't see me signing any petitions or complaining everyday how this game and that game sucks. It's all a "gamble".

Thanks for reading, sorry it was so long. ^_^

Sounds like a pretty nerdy thing to rage about. Its a video game, they aren't real.

I don't know why, but I found this hilarious.

LOL. me too.

I still don't have money for a 3DS. Hopefully this year though. I'm crossing my fingers.

I'm a Wii fan so that whole section lit me up. Now I know I want to get Fortune Street. Thanks for this post as I never seen Best and Worst categories like the ones you have. I played the demo for El Shaddai and like you said, it's really good graphics, but I must say that game was kinda weird even for the demo. :D

Wow, this was a really good blog about Milo. I haven't thought about that tech demo for a long time. I did believe it was just a tech demo and not suppose to be an official game. But in any case, I haven't really seen any Kinect games that used that specific tech yet. Hopefully this year there will be more adult-themed Kinect games such as a Heavy Rain type.

after experiencing a loss of internet connection and not being able to play my OnLive games, I'm not very excited about going digital. Then again OnLive streams the games. Streaming has to vastly improve for me to be fully comfortable with. As far as downloading games goes, I do it but not very often. currently, i have about 27 games, with 25 being steam games. I guess as long as your operating system doesn't crash, there shouldn't be any problems. I'm running windows 7 and had my laptop since July or August 2011 and havent had to do a clean reinstall yet, knock on wood. :-D. As long as physical copies are still in the options, people will warm up to digital games more so in the next few years. However, I guess downloading full console games requires a hefty internet connection. the games i have except 3 of them are indie games - 2 are MMOs and 1 is a multiplatform game.

Does Capcom own the IP for God Hand. They should just make Gene DLC.

Also, does the fact that it's Ryu sell DLC? I know he is the face of Street Fighter but I wouldn't buy this. And I buy really stupid things when it comes to DLC.

dang, I should have used that in the rant. But yeah, i don't see how RYU is going to sell a lot. Most times, the character is already in the game or unlocked.

Ryu will sell because he's a popular character.

yes, popularity will trump in this one. Of course, most people will have to get interested in the game first. From reading the forum's threads, a lot of people are passing on it :(

came out in the uk ages ago although i cant see why people would want a wii without game cube compatibility

A lot of Wii owners out there don't have Gamecube games.

i didn't have GC games when I brought my Wii. I borrowed a couple though because I never played a GC game.

Of course they would use Ryu since he is well known and beloved. Yeah it would be great for them to use someone else but it really doesnt make much sense for them to pick some lesser known character that only appeals to a small audience if they wanna make money off it.

There's a lot more characters that are as popular as Ryu. Heck, they could have used Akuma or Ken and I would have been happy. :D Ah well, just another senseless rant then. lol. I'm still getting the game just only when the price goes down.
