Today Is The Day That We Shall Rise Up... And Buy RDR!!!!

Yes folks, you've heard me talking about it - rumours like the wind rushing over dead branches - but today is the day. Today is the day of fools and madmen and of legends. Today is the day when we, the mighty people of Sparta, rise up and say enough is enough! When we say we WILL have our bread and feast on it! We shall look upon our foes and laugh for we know, oh we know, that today is the day that we go forth into the unknown and ring the bell of truth! For all know this is the day that the bell knells for you. This is the day we buy Red Dead Redemption.

Or something like that... *Shuffles feet*

Well on that note, I'll change topic completely and talk about my time so far with AC2. Still not convinced! Damn! I wanna bloody like the game, seriously I do! But I still have my reservations! Sure you go around looking for chests in other games, but it just feels so repetitive this time around! Maybe because it shows you on the map "You must go here and here and here" instead of just letting you find things on your own. You see a big tower, you have to go up it. And they all have the same outcome. It's boring.

Combat is average. Not impressed by it. Man oh man I just want to like the stupid game! I don't want to have to return it! I've probably got my poster up in the game store with "Do not serve this repeat-returner" underneath it. I mean I've returned Assassin's Creed, Borderlands, Condemned 2: Bloodshot, Dragon Age: Origins, Gears of War 2, Halo 3: ODST (twice!), The Movies and Worms 4: Mayhem! That's a whopping 8 games! Assassin's Creed 2 will be nine and if I don't like Red Dead Redemption or Fallout 3 that will be into double figures! Maybe I can write a book? "Confessions of a bad game returner".

I'll play the game through and give it a good chance. If I return it I guess I shouldn't feel bad - I mean if I could return games I had when I was younger I probably would have too. But I guess I wouldn't have found the good points in those games. But maybe I was too easily pleased? Man I'm definitely over-thinking this.

I'll be honest... I have played most of those games you just mentioned and enjoyed them.  While I strongly feel you will enjoy Red Dead Redemption... I have to say... your taste in games is baffling to my palette.  Perhaps... you would enjoy a good game of Pong?

@marcusravenheart: Baffling? Well I'll explain then, because I don't return EVERY game, only ones with good reason to... Assassin's Creed was waay too repetitive and just plain bad, Borderlands was good but I clocked it and it had zero replay value for me, Condemned 2 I returned because it was too scary and I was too young (was when I had just gotten the Xbox 360) plus I really wanted another game so returned it to get that one, Dragon Age was just rubbish (horrible combat, terrible graphics, no real endearing plot IMHO), Gears of War 2 had an amazing campaign but after I finished that I tried the multiplayer and I couldn't connect to any games unlike the first Gears so there went that one's chances, ODST had a shockingly bad campaign and I had no desire to keep it just for the firefight, The movies wouldn't load on my computer and Worms 4: Mayhem was just a bastardization of the hallowed Worms franchise which I love.

So there you have it. As for Pong... Umm no... you can see all the games I've played on my EVERY GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED! list which might be helpful since I'm leaving my experience with the game in their captions... Thanks for your comment! : )

I was a lover of the Dragon Age... took me back to my old days playing Baldurs Gate.  Also I thought the plot was pretty damn good.  However like my opinion, yours and mine are our own. ODST, I will agree with you on, only reason I kept it was because my Halo disc was scratched pretty bad and i wanted to give it a break so as to save the chance of being able to replay the single player campaign again for nostalgia.  Plus, the map packs were nice.  Gears of War 1-2 ... love the campaign... hate the multiplayer because of bad experiences at LAN conventions.  Condemned 2... was a good game.  You should check it out again now that your wearing big boy pants.  Borderlands was a great game, and had replay value in my opinion because you had different classes that provided different experiences.  The First assassins creed was a marvel, but at the same a bit repetitive.  The sequel remedied this quite a bit.  To be honest... repetition to some degree is part of gaming in general and the sequel did a good job of keeping it fairly minimal.  Giving a player the ability to do something and the methodology of an action, merits repetition so that a player can make use of the training provided.  The fact that the sequel offers at least four different ways to succeed in most of its missions if a improvement over its predecessor.   As for pong, your missing out... it is the father of gaming.  Shame the movies didn't work for you.  I enjoyed that sim quite a bit and its community.

Cheers

@marcusravenheart: I agree slightly that repetition is part of the gaming experience. But I put it down to that in Assassin's Creed 2 there is nothing to explore. You can see where all the eagle points are on the map, then you synch, then all the shops are shown and then you buy a map at a shop and all the chests are shown too. Or at the very least you can see if there's a balcony in a building, it's got a chest in it.

This is boring in my view. This is the only game I feel this towards and I've figured it's because it has the above flaws in it. Other games you have to go explore and discover and not know if you've missed something. Oblivion, although a lot of the dungeons and houses are exactly the same, you get the sense it's all different because you're out there, in the forest, looking for different things and you discover these places. The chests in Fable 2, even though I didn't fully love the game, at least they weren't marked out for you! At times it just feels like you're ticking off a set of requirements for AC2 - go from here to there, collect this, climb this. I'll admit, the feeling isn't as great as in the first installment, but it's still there. At least with other games you are sent to retrieve something and there may be a different route you need to take or a monster guarding it, but in AC2, you just face more guards or have to climb a similar building.

As for pong, I meant yes I have played it, but no I don't want to get it - I hate those impossible early games like Mario etc from that era where it's all about skill and no fun.

You do know you aren't supposed to return games because you disliked them right? Completely playing through entire games and deciding you don't like them isn't a reason to return them to the store.

@Barrock: I've returned games to GameStop because I didn't like them. They even say that if you don't like the game you can return it within seven days.
