Has any Halo fanboy done or fit into the description any of the following?

  1. Played more than three decent PC first-person shooters before Halo?
  2. Played any decent console first-person shooters before Halo?
  3. Have good and artistic taste in video games?
  4. Contain high standards for video game quality?
  5. Fan of obscure, overlooked gems?
  6. Fan of Valve's games?
  7. Not easily succumb by marketed hype?
  8. Played a lot of LucasArts adventure games?
  9. A fan of the first Deus Ex or System Shock 2?
  10. Played any of Bungie's past games? (Back then when they actually made GOOD games)
  11. Not a fratboy or a twelve year-old?
  12. Play a lot of indie video games?
  13. Played the Ultima series?
  14. A fan of BioWare games?
  15. Read books other than the godawful Halo novels?

I know for a fact that there is not one Halo fanboy who fit into any of these descriptions. The majority of the gaming community on internet forums are not Halo fans, because people on the internet have taste than people in real-life. Smart users on Giantbomb.com like RsistencE, Ignor, and SeriouslyNow would agree with me.

" @Spikester:  Woah dude, chill out for a second, no need to bring my gaming credentials into this. I've been playing games way longer than that. Yes, traversal is not a new idea, but AC was the first game in a while to actually streamline traversal and make it an interesting feature rather than just a half-assed option. "
This man is right. Because of Assassin's Creed, parkour has become almost a selling point. It's by no means the first game to do it, but it was the first game ti do it in meaningful, spectacular way. Because of AC we have key aspects of The Saboteur, Mirror's Edge, the upcoming Brink.  I think the first game is was an incredible disappointment, but the series has done major things for the genre and industry. "
Yes, because Mirror's Edge and Brink are open-world games... Anyway, back on Subject: I wouldn't call it spectacular, but it was a nice design choice by the developers. However, it doesn't make it's nothing really groundbreaking. It just serves as a fast-travel mechanic, that were were used to seen in RPGs. Assassin's Creed was unique, but it's by no means groundbreaking. It's not as if it it changed our perception towards game design like GTA III, Half-Life, or Ocarina of Time did. "
Im not so sure about that - it popularised the whole '3D sandbox' concept, as travelling vertically is now just as viable in alot of games as it is to travel horizontally across the map. "
It's just a clever and convenient way of fast traveling from one area to another, no one does that a feature that makes people go "wow" over it.

Nope, it was a broken monkey fest that en-sparked Peter Molynuex's declining line of hyped games with empty promises. He doesn't make awesome games anymore as he used to. his last great game was Dungeon Keeper, and you know it. "
Black and White was a great game! >:( "
I respectfully disagree, it's a decent game. :P

" No question, Kane & Lynch.  "Hitman" meets "Heat," with the gameplay inspired by "Freedom Fighters" seemed mindblowingly awesome.   I was counting the days til release.  Then the lackluster demo came out.  Then the reviews hit.  And then my gaming site of choice fell apart over a scandal arising from the game.  Not IO's fault at all, but that left a bad enough taste in my mouth to utterly put me off the game. "
Freedom Fighters was awesome.

While I admit that the sequel was very good, I still say that the series doesn't live up to it's potential as it could've. It's not the industry game shaker that it was hyped up to be. "
It's NOT and industry game shaker? Then why are similar traversal systems becoming so common in 3rd person action games? "
Dude, have you heard about this new game called Grand Theft Auto III? No? Well it's an incredibly exciting game that was inspired by Assassin's Creed.

Sarcasm aside: That's nothing new. The game just borrowed that concept from many other action/adventure games that actually did change the gaming industry. When did you start gaming? 2006?

" Assassin's Creed is probably second only to Mass Effect as the best new IP this gen. Don't know what you're smoking. "
Yeah.. I agree. I don't see where you're coming from. "
Here's a list of the issues that plagued Assassin's Creed:
  • Bad A.I.
  • Combat that was more entertaining to watch, than to play
  • Repetitive side-quests
  • Limited options to take down your assassinations
  • Goofy plot
  • Screwed up morality
  • There isn't much to do in the "sandbox"
  • Bad cliffhanger ending
  • World feels artificial and bland
  • Non-existent stealth elements
  • etc.
  • etc.
I could go on, but I see the original Assassin's Creed being nothing more than a average game at best. The sequel however, was very good. Vastly superior than the original in almost every way.
