well i'm not necessarily a "Sony fan," but i do enjoy playing my PS3 more than any of the other consoles (i have all 3 and both portables, but most barely get any use because of my PS3.) Microsoft ticked me off enough to make me purchase a PS3 because frankly, their system is not reliable. my 360 broke on me 5 times in a little less than 2 years. i know that part of this is just bad luck, but out of the 8 people i know who own 360s, only 2 of them are on their first. microsoft tries to counter this by putting out a lot of games. gears 2 looks fantastic, and fable 2 looks good, but in my opinion Sony's console has a lot more going for it in this holiday season and in Q1 2009.
360 has:
Banjo Kazooie, Fable 2, Gears 2, Tales of Vesperia, and the timed exclusive Last Remnant. i'm pretty sure those are the only exclusives worth mentioning for end of Q3/Q4 this year.
PS3 has:
Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, Littlebigplanet, Valkyria Chronicles, and SOCOM. these games are uniformly looking to be better than the 360's games in MY OPINION (with the exception of SOCOM, which kinda sucks.) plus, the online play is free and not that much worse than 360's, the console is very reliable, the controllers all wireless, and more.
to answer your question, yes, motorstorm is fun. the sequel has a demo out on the PSN, and it is even better. it's pure entertainment and one of the best racing games i've played. you may also want to check out wipeout hd, another great racing game exclusive to the PS3 at a budget price.

a kid, maybe 10 or 12, walks into a gamestop and tells the sales clerk that his PSX can play DVDs, but only when he sets a slice of white bread on top of it. rye, wheat, etc. do not work. the clerk tells him that this is impossible, but the kid is adamant. why don't you show me, the clerk asks. i don't have any white bread, the kid responds.

i am not making that shit up.

ok now for my FC2 impressions so far. i just got it last night, so i've played around one hour of the campaign, one hour of multiplayer, and about a half hour of the map editor. my impressions of the single player game so far are pretty positive. not having a targeting reticule on the screen threw me for a few minutes, but i'm pretty used to it by now. everything in the campaign, from the weapons to the vehicles to the people themselves feels suitably dirty and realistic, and the graphics bring the world to beautiful life. one thing that i rather dislike about the campaign is the feeling of aimlessness that is prevalent in every part of the game. there is no onscreen minimap like there is in EVERY OTHER open world game with the exception of the GPS mounted on the dashboard of every car, but even that is way too hard to see to get any good idea of where you're going. a lot of the world is starting to look the same, even after only an hour of play. also, while some voiceovers are alright, most suck. the main villian, the Jackal, sounds as if he's just vomiting out words because se talks so fast. multiplayer seems to be my favorite part of the game at the moment. it's pretty typical DM, TDM, CTF, and Conquest with a ranking system and upgradable loadouts, but it's really executed well. unlocking new upgrades is rewarding and the gameplay is solid as always. my only complaint with multiplayer is that the sprint function keeps sprinting even after you let go of the button, which can lead to a few deaths. with the very flexible but sometimes unweildly map editor, this game could last you forever.
i play the PS3 version of the game btw. and yes, the graphics and framerate are great.
EDIT: i've logged a few more hours into the campaign, and i have to say it's getting pretty dull. half of the time spent with this game has been about as much fun as staring at dirt and trees, because i've literally spent half of the game staring at dirt and trees. the world is far too large to have so few missions.

I loved tokyo drift. Hot japanese girls, phat rides what more could you want from a fast and the furious movie, best in the series. I can never watch that movie enough."
I hope you fall into a pit of boiling hot maple syrup. :("
