I think Call of Duty could be a big game changer. There's really no precedent for being able to play a full FPS properly in the palm of your hand though, so we'll have to see what happens. I could see mobile Call of Duty XXXVIII with trophy support being like crack for Joe Sixpack (maybe once the inevitable 4G version comes out, you could fire up multiplayer anywhere you like.) Once the WiiU comes out, if the tablet controller thing is as successful as the Wiimote, we could see some interesting synergy between the Vita and the PS3/4.
On another note, I must have a very different taste in games than most here, I think the console has a killer launch lineup. Uncharted, Wipeout, BlazBlue, Ninja Gaiden S+, Katamari, and those are just the ones I'm interested in. I mean it's a launch lineup, what did you expect?
I might be much different than most, though, as my portable consoles are to my home consoles as my laptop is to my desktop. I mostly play at home and like the convenience of being able to move to a different room and keep playing. I guess I'm pretty out of touch with your typical consumer ;) That said, I hope both the 3DS and Vita do well so both platforms can be well supported by 3rd party developers. Competition leads to better, cheaper hardware and software for everyone.
