Live (on tape) blog

Here's my live on tape blog of me playing all my games I never played.  Except Killer 7.  I got tired.

--

Alright first up is Rhapsody.  I got this for free, I had found Persona 2 at GameStop and they had a buy one get one free sale for old games.  I saw this was an Atlus/Nippon Ichi deal so I figured why not.  So let's go.

Ah crap I'm out of PS1 memory card space on my PS3's hard drive.  Standby.

Now we're good.  What the hell is this?  Singing?  Well I guess it is a "musical adventure."

Okay back to the menu.  Hey you can play this on easy...my kind of game...and you can pick Japanese singing.  I think I'll go with that.

Hmm...so I'm a trumpet playing puppeteer girl whose party consists of a fairy and a puppet that just came in the mail.  I knew this was going to be pretty bizarre, but damn.

Looks like we're starting with a fetch quest.  Everyone in the village is giving me backstory and foreshadowing...how nice of them.  Thanks for reminding me of my apparently dead parents, old woman.

Our first battle.  Two toads.  Eh, I'm not a big fan of the strategy game meets turn based RPG combat.

Time for a musical number...anytime now.  Anytime.  Start singing.  There we go.  I love in games, anime, etc., when someone is singing in Japanese and a random English word pops up.

What ominous creatures.  The slime...sorry, jelly...in this game looks happier than the slime from Dragon Quest.

Oh, damn, he's in my party now.  Jeez I already have a four...person?...party.

Ha ha...here's a quote:  "you know if you die you'll have to watch this scene over again."  I enjoyed that.  I don't know why I'm still playing it otherwise.

...and I've stopped caring.  Moving on!  Up next is...Star Ocean:  Second Story.  Hmm, can't I just wait for the remake?

Wow, surround sound on a PS1 game?  Jeez too many options.  Character, battle system.  Move along!

Am I reading this game or am I playing it?  Side note, it's always weird when outside it's storming and it is in the game you're playing.

This game is way too chatty.  Finally a chance to try out the battle system.

Wow.  That was...awful.  And the audio...did they think they were going to put this on a cartridge?  I guess I'll give it a few more minutes.

I hate it when a save point is in front of your face yet they keep on talking...on nice now they just walked away from it.  Jesus, are these houses covered in blood?  Time to move on.  I've said it before, I'll say it again, PS1 games should have been 2D, they just weren't ready for 3D.

Okay now for Growlanser Generations.  Wow and it's a blue disc.  Old school.

Wait...a tactics game where you don't have to issue a "move" command?  Now we're talking.  So far so good.

This game already has a lot of "wait...that's a guy?" moments.

Alright, too boring and chatty...even during battle.

This experiment is pretty crappy so far.  Now let's try ICO.  And boy I love escort missions...

I guess my lack of typing meant I thought it was good.  I could see it getting pretty repetitive though.

Finally, Killer 7.  I'll get to that tomorrow, unless I get lucky and somewhere has Too Human.
