I NEED to give credit to Thief: Deadly Shadows's "The Cradle" level. One of the most atmospheric, disturbing levels in video game history.

The build up to this level was so incredibly creepy, that by the time I reached the entrance in the game, I quit playing; "fuck this scary shit," said I.

I lasted about 5 minutes inside, basically long enough to be forced to turn on the lights and lose all my hiding places. I couldn't finish it. Most of these moments people are mentioning are simple jumps and scares that pass as quickly as they appear, the build up to and Cradle level itself were genuine spine-chilling terror. Masterful work by the developers and nothing I've played since has come close.

Anyone know if any extra cars unlock in this? I played the Saturn game to death and there was a code you entered to unlock around 8 cars, I remember my favourite being a pale green one with maximum speed stats and the lowest grip, was perfect for drifting around the hairpins on the expert course.

@Steve_Evil: Or if someone else in your game world has recently kindled it.

Interesting, do you mean if someone joins me to help me out, they can kindle a fire for me? I've gathered that if someone online kindles a bonfire when I'm nearby that I'll gain another flask.

I dunno if I like all the changes, personally... Mainly I miss a hub world. I dunno what humanity is yet so I cant say I dislike it. Ive definitely died way more in this game than I did in Demons Souls. A few times felt like the games fault...used my flask to heal and it wouldnt do it till 4-5 seconds after the fact...which meant death for me. Combat does feel the same but I like the ability to kick and also to leap forward to attack (pretty sure thats new).

Apparently you need stamina to use your flask, that might have been the 4-5 seconds (if you kept your shield up)?

Yep..I bet that was it. Thanks. Got me killed twice and I didn't understand why.

Oh and I noticed one thing about Humanity. You can have 10 flasks for health if you have your Humanity restored as opposed to only 5 when you are dead.

You get 10 flasks from a bonfire when you kindle it.

I've heard from several different places that the Royal class is the best one for complete beginners. It might not be the class you keep coming back to, but great for new players to learn the game.

That would be for Demons Souls.

As said, no issue whatsoever. The only thing you sometimes find is that there are certain online features that won't be available until the release date, but that won't be the case here.

Deprived for me, it's going to be tough, so might as well go the whole hog. Plus, never having played Demon's Souls, I have no idea what character I'll tend towards, so having the option to dabble with everything with a mixed set of stats appeals.

"Clearly you have not listened to what Teddie sounds like in Japanese. Go do a search on youtube for it, and then come back and complain if Rise in comparison is still too annoying. "
OK, I'll give you that, he's pretty annoying, but choosing between the two is like deciding whether I'd like my ears gouged with a rusty knife or bored-out with a drill. Does seem like they've gone all Beverly Hills 90210 with the voice actors in the Japanese version, you've got people approaching 30 playing teenagers and they're not fooling anyone.

"Rise's awesome, so you can go ahead and die."
A concise and well thought out argument. From someone presumably too young to know any better. When you start getting involved with real women then maybe you'll be able to provide some valid input on exactly what it is about Rise that makes her an annoying cretin.
