Please God, don't let EA get its destructive claws on my beloved Relic.

i'm most worried about Relic too, Volition is one thing, but Relic being slowly but surely killed by big business publishers would break my heart

Vinny running the show with Patrick supporting has been my favourite as of late, Brad/Ryan is also a great combination

my least favourite is probably Ryan/Jeff they're both great with others but they tend to play similar roles in quick looks and something about them together just doesn't gel for me

this happened to me coming up to my endgame, the first time i encountered a sectopod, i also play ironman, my first time through was on normal. after a few missions and about 10 dead rookies later, i nearly threw in the towel, even with the best equipment, they just aren't very good, but then i got a few ranked up and slowly got enough of a decent team to get to the end mission and actually finish the game, trying to play it through on classic ironman now and im finding if i have a mission where it just goes bad and i lose my entire squad, I'll just start over, the problem i find is that ill play really cautiously for the first few hours then ill let it slip a little and get all my troops out of position and accidentally trigger 2/3 groups of enemies and that is when things go really bad

I liked it too, one of the things that occurred to me is just the overwhelming sense of positiveness that the game has brought to this industry, both in and out of playing the game

cheers for the links, I had just read most of that, and its all really interesting, but they say it themselves, "it's the best model" to me still suggests an assumption has been made, and the fact there are descenting voices against it proves they don't have empirical evidence to say the BBT is how the universe was made means that a lot of the really far out there and important branches of physics are basing all of their research on a well supported assumption, sorry folks, i still don't buy it,

and sorry, it feels like i kind of hijacked this thread

EDIT- also, when i mentioned religion before it was a weird comparison, i KNOW there is more evidence for the BBT, but i still feel the jump in logic feels similar

What this guy said @scalpel:

"It's the best model", and that's exactly the point. Models simply describe the universe in a way that we can understand, they are not completely accurate. The answer to how the universe began largely depends on how big the answer box is.

Every scientific theory carries some doubt, the reason we use them is because they work. The BBT works. And again, wikipedia saves the day: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_theory

which is sort of my problem with science in the first place, we (as a people) say that science is rational and empirical, but when it comes down to it, it might as well be advanced philosophy

@StingerMK2: That's not the only evidence for it. It's easy to dismiss something you do not understand. But understanding would take work, so fuck that, right?

i just went and read a few web pages and all i saw was pretty much exactly what i said but obviously in much more intelligent ways, they pretty much attribute the BBT to the fact the universe is expanding, if you have any evidence of your own that might prove otherwise, feel free to point me towards it,

I'm probably going to sound really dumb but I REALLY don't buy into the Big Bang theory, its no better an explanation about the creation of the universe than any Religion has, and the only evidence for it is because everything is expanding? at some point some assumptions were made and now entire strands of scientists use this as a basis for all their research, I genuinely think that is half of the reason they've only "theoretically" worked out as much stuff as they have is because they haven't had a good basis for it

blah blah blah, feels like I'm talking out of my arse now, whatever, hopefully someone will jump down my throat and prove me wrong

also, some of this shit is just too much for us to truly understand

I'm just going to fuel the fire some more here. This issue can't be solved just by limiting the legal access to guns, especially not in a place where people view having a gun as one of their most important rights, but I still believe letting more people have access to guns can only lead to bad things. The problem is rooted way deeper in how the US cares for it's citizens, or rather how it doesn't. When people can't even get healthcare for physical wounds, how are they supposed to deal with emotional issues? The fact that people are so afraid of each other that they feel the need to have armed guards in schools is just crazy. We are all people and equals, we should be working together towards a better society, not push each other down in order to get on top. Start by spending money on welfare for everyone who needs it instead of stockpiling it with those already wealthy, and maybe, just maybe you can start to prevent these horrible crimes.

I agree. Society is a big problem itself and removing guns is not going to magically change that.

Exactly, but people saying that it is a good idea to give more people guns in a society with these kinds of problems is shocking.

im glad someone said this, there is a real cultural sickness bred into the western world, particularly America, clinging so hard to their (perceived, at best) freedoms has created a culture of mistrust and desperation, combine that with certain industries complete fetishisation of gun culture (specifically films, TV, music and games) and the way the media try to saturate their networks with this sick news, and then not having decent metal health care system to really help support those who need it most, it's no wonder there are a few inbalanced people in the world.

this isn't going to get any better anytime soon
