The corporate world isn't for everyone. Personally I'd choose the stability and professionalism, but others would disagree completely. I wish them well with their decisions.

For me personally Jeff is the big draw of GB. His industry knowledge and humor are more my style. So I don't see much appeal in Nextlander personally, but I am glad those with different tastes have their guys around for longer. For all we knew they quit to join the PR industry.

While there is some 2D skill based mechanics most of it revolves around executing mobility tests and manipulating environments with an evolving set of tools.

I've finished it, and I liked it overall. Looks good and plays well. Only real knocks against it are that the story (while fascinating) doesn't get fully developed, and the script is very clunky and 'English-as-a-second-language-esque'. The wonky script wouldn't be a problem but boy do the characters in this game like to go on massively long diatribes about anything and everything, so it ends up being one.

These two things are why the quicklook turned me off from purchasing. Seemed more puzzle-based than action, and there's nothing I hate more than endless story and dialog sections in games that aren't RPGs.

@lovcol: Well, one man's "AAA" is another man's "AA" ;)

I'd take Divinity: Original Sin, Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity and the new Civilization over any PS4 or Xbone exclusive so far.

@lovcol: There are probably more PC exclusives than any other type, they just don't get advertised much.

If you only played it on console before try the PC version out now. It's like a million times better.

I think Giant Bomb is a very "dudes hanging out playing games" kind of site. I further do not think there's anything wrong with sites focusing on that kind of vibe, as long as everyone is free to make alternatives, which they are. I wouldn't want every website to feel like this one does, but I respect Jeff and everyone else trying to keep that tone the same. It's different from an IGN or Eurogamer, which are trying to be as broad and mainstream as possible. A site like GB is more niche though, more out to serve a particular style and flavor.

There's this idea in modern inclusive discussion that everything has to be for everyone, which I don't think is true. It's nice to go down to the local pub and hang out with just the guys some nights, and similarly it's nice to have a website for games that feels like hanging out with the guys. I wouldn't want that to go away. I also hope women gamers have a place like that to go to, when they need to. If it doesn't exist someone should invest in it and make it.

All that said I certainly understand why some might be disappointed.

I liked Raven's last Wolfenstein game as well. Hidden gem in my opinion, along with Singularity. Haven't gotten around to this new Wolf game yet, seems too story-heavy and linear judging by the quick look. I'll give it a shot eventually though.

Again, that doesn't matter in the discussion of E3 presentations.

It's about which slate of games appeals to more people. The Nintendo slate only appeals to people who already liked Nintendo's first-party games. The other showings were about a much broader array of titles, genres and styles.

The core point is the whole thing is rather subjective if you're just going by "dude I like Nintendo games so they won!" Well I don't, so they lost. What's the point of that discussion? It's simply "I like" versus "I like." Means nothing.

In the broader industry sense Nintendo showed their existing fans the games they like are still coming to WiiU, which was good for them to do. In the broader industry sense though I don't think it changed anything, and Sony/Microsoft had more important showings for the industry as a whole.

That's how the industry exists and how perceptions exist. On a personal level, not everyone cares the same about the various companies and their offerings.

Yes but Xbox and Playstation survive on third-party releases, massive amounts of general games available on them and the PC. Nintendo exists only on Nintendo games.

If you don't care at all about Sony's first-party games you might still be interested in owning a PS4. If you don't care at all about NIntendo's first-party games there is no way you would ever buy a WiiU. PC doesn't even have "first-party" games, as there is no first-party.

It's a very different thing, whether you admit it or not.

If you like Nintendo's stuff you were probably thrilled at their E3 announcements. If you aren't into Nintendo's stuff you likely didn't care about any of it. Gaming is a vast and subjective thing, if anyone "wins" a conference it's probably based on the broadest showing.

The same could be said of Microsoft, Sony, or any of the other presenters. If you don't care about Microsoft, then their presentation is irrelevant.

That's not really how I see the industry. Xbox, Playstation and PC compete for the "general gamer" audience. They have a plethora of genres, publishers, styles, etc. You'll buy the one that fits you best and then maybe buy another for its exclusives, but they're general game playing machines.

Nintendo is about Nintendo. If you want Nintendo games enough you'll buy the new Nintendo game playing box. Their E3 presentation might have done a lot to convince Nintendo fans to finally pony-up for the new box, but it wasn't competing (or really attempting to compete) outside of that hole. No one only owns a WiiU. It's a supplemental machine, Nintendo systems have been since the N64.
