This post relates to: Jack Black

I rarely go to the movies nowadays, with movie tickets and gas prices so damn high. This year I've only watched Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, and the Dark Knight in the theatres. That's not saying there weren't any other good movies this year, most of which I've watched when they came out on bluray/DVD. And hey look, those three movies have one thing in common, they're comic based movies, and good ones that is. It was kind of funny that, on my way to the theatres, I heard the trailer for Tropic Thunder twice. But it got annoying when I finished watching the movie, and on the ride home I heard 2 more trailers on the radio for Tropic Thunder. Just wanted to mention that since I thought it was kind of funny.

With that said, I knew I was going to love Tropic Thunder. I love most Ben Stiller comedies, and with Jack Black who is always funny, and Robert Downey Jr. playing the role of a aussie dude playing a role of a black dude (Come on... how can that NOT be funny?). All three of them, plus the two teammates that don't get the front cover love because their names aren't as big, were absolutely funny in their own way. I especially loved Downey Jr.'s character because...come on... his role is an aussie dude playing the role of a black dude... that's just funny to say outloud. I didn't even realize Tom Cruise was in the movie till the very end, but he was pretty funny in whatever role he was playing (and I'm not really a Cruise fan). If you had to pick one comedy to watch this year, it has to be this movie. For a comedy, it had great explosions and gun fight scenes (funny ones that is). Usually I'm against getting comedies on bluray because... they're just comedies, all you need to hear are the jokes. But this is one of the few comedies that I'll definitely be picking up in bluray, because there are a bit of gruesome parts and awesome explosions that needs to be seen in high definition.
