Y'all are aware it's "Kickstarter" not "Kickfinisher" right?

Just watched The Bureau quick look. It looks cool! But since when was XCOM some kind of American (limited quite perfectly to US borders in fact) initiative and not a global front? Since when was XCOM founded by Americans? There's a lot I don't know of course, but from what I've seen so far, The Bureau is a retconning of XCOM as a global initiative into a kind of politically motivated NATO parable. I'm hoping the actual name of this force is The Bureau and that they become XCOM when they join up with the global community, but if this just turns out to be another story of how fucking awesome Americans are to help organize the rest of this idiot planet to stop the bad guys I'm gonna hurl.

I like the idea that shit idiotic writing is "different" and therefore worth keeping around. Seriously guys. Go defend a Michael Bay or Roland Emmerich movie then, or a Dan Brown novel, because that's the actual vault Kojima is yanking this baloney from.

He's a jackass pretending at being a serious auteur, undermining his own work every step of the way with yet more idiocy. This is a guy that wants to talk about child soldiers while he sticks a sniper chick in a bikini on screen, wants to talk about Guantanamo bay and torture, and does it side by side with Policenauts references, horse stealth, cybercowboys and hiding in cardboard boxes. This is a dude that genuinely thinks he has serious things to say about war and conflict. He doesn't. He has nothing to say about those things. He just farts for hours and hours and hours in HIGH DEFINITION.

You call it "quirky" or "weird". Swery's games are quirky and weird. Kojima's games are just stupid, and I don't understand why people aren't giving him a harder time. He should be better than this now and the only reason he's not getting better is because people keep letting him get away with garbage.

I liked Anna Anthropy's games a lot more before I started reading the shit she writes.

The only reason I don't own a Wii U yet is that beyond Zombi U there are "no" games for it. I think Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101 are the games that will fix this for me personally, though the Wind Waker remake is triggering some weirdly intense draw as well..

Either way, there is nothing about the system itself that pushes me away. It simply needs the content.

I was amazed the first time he replied to one of my emails. If anything, as often has he was disagreeable, he was remarkably open to debate. Him actually printingone of my emails was a huge, HUGE deal to me.

I loved his writing style, his willingness to give B-movies a proper shake, his willingness to tear pretension to pieces or praise it in turn. Rest in peace Roger, and thank you for all the provocation.

@beachthunder: To be fair, I ditched a day of work to finish it in one day. It's not a tiny game.

Dude! Me too! What a weird game to think of, right? Reminded me more of Singularity than Bioshock, sometimes.
