If you're only worried about understanding the new game, then no. If you're worried about angry mobs attacking you for not having played one of the greatest PC games of all time, then yes.
Its a foot in the door kinda thing. Take it and run with it. I met a girl on one of those sites who's picture (while clearly of her at some point) was WAY more attractive than she was at the time. She was kinda lame and it didn't work out, but it got us on a few dates.
I'll probably start with those Leapfrog type things... maybe some iPad kids games and things.
I saved every console I've owned, save the Texas Instruments TI-99 my parents bought us when we were young (though that was supposed to be a computer, not just for video games) I heard someone talk about letting their child work their way through the ages of console games and I'm almost crazy enough to do it. I was on the Nintendo side of the fight so I have an NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube and now a PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360 and a Wii.
Then again, maybe I'll just play football with him and give him a chance to get laid before he's 30.
The music from the first Mass Effect was just perfect, but after hearing just a couple songs by Clint Mansell, I'm ready to hear what he can do for ME3.
