" Has anyone told the devs that Hydrophobia doesn't mean what they think it means yet?  As Hydrophobia is either;  a) A chemical 'aversion' or 'rejection' of water at a molecular level.b) Used to describe an animal in the latter stages of Rabies.  The word they were looking for was Aquaphobia i'm sure. "

I know you wanted to sound witty and all, having looked this up on Wikipedia, but unless both Webster's and Oxford dictionaries decided to take crazy pills when they came to this entry, Hydrophobia can also mean a fear of water.

Kinda funny how most reactions to this are of understanding and acceptance, while the exact same thing for EA Tiger Woods has always seemed to be a major point of contention. Maybe this is just an overall shift towards acceptance, or perhaps it's more accepted with this because it is a beloved game made by a beloved company. *shrugs*

In any case, I've always been fine with cash shops as long as they do not break two rules --

#1) Do not RENT items. This trend seems to be fairly exclusive to Korean games at the moment like Gunbound where you pay real money to buy something for a limited amount of time. That is absolutely ridiculous and feels like a huge scam. Yes, a fool and their money are soon parted, caveat emptor, etc. but it's still a sleazy way to do business.

#2) Do not reward people for not playing your game. That is to say do not make cash stores the only way to get an item that enhances ones skills / character / etc. Vanity items or different skins for weapons / mounts / whatever are fine, but don't offer some weapon or item that is better than what can be acquired in-game without having to fork over real cash.

Sorry, the nerd in me just needs to correct you -- that'd be more like a flail than a mace

Sounds pretty spiffy.  Of course this begs the question -- when are Richard Branson and Virgin Galactic gonna start selling tickets for trips there?

I command thee, Dragon Age -- make this user hate you! No. Wait. Make them despise you! No no no... make them ABHOR you! There's not enough abhorring going on in the world these days.

(In all seriousness, maybe just try it on an easier setting. I couldn't stand the combat on normal; it was frustrating as hell, but putting it on easy made it bearable... even if I still quit and never returned once I hooked up with Alistair)

We have a poll created by an old school geek asking how geek we are with no hint of irony anywhere in the thread.

I'd say that makes us pretty geek.

Pretty much this. As long as you have access to a computer outside of school (which I'm assuming you do since you're posting a thread on a forum on the internets) you're fine. My brother swears by a digital notepad -- from what I gather, it's a touchpad the size of a notebook with nothing but an MS Word-like program on it and a small flash drive, and then you hook it up to a computer via usb so you can unload whatever notes you took on it into a computer. He loves it, though I've never tried one out myself.

I didn't mind it. It filled in a few story gaps, though it wasn't anything amazing. I'm hoping Dead Space 2 does the voiced-comic thing that the first one did before its release. I really enjoyed those.
