Fable III - A Scrubs Glimpse (Possible Spoilers)

I'm going to get one thing off the bat right now, I didn't follow this game. I should've but I didn't. I did it for one reason, so I wasn't shot down by Molyneux's lies .And All I can say is after following such a path, I'm nod disappointed by the game. Well, kind of am. But not much.

Fable III as we all know throws you in the shoes of a now talking prince, one of the sons of the old Hero. Two things about this intrigue me. One, a talking Protagonist shocked me but, I like it. Gives your character some...well...character. Secondly, I wish we could of imported our old save file (which is now the trend) and they could have had the child look somewhat like our old Hero. Just a though.

Combat is the same, which is a good thing, i've always love the combat system but it seems a little more fluid now. One thing I'm confused about is people were saying something about the magic all being unlocked from the beginning, what the fuck? I remember having to buy my spells one at a time, like any other Fable game.

Which leads me to my next point, How awesome is dual gauntlets? It was something I wasn't expecting but an awesome thing none the less.Combining spells is a rad idea. I endorse it fully.

The pause "menu". Your Sanctuary. I'll keep this short.

  • I like it.
  • I love hearing John Cleese.
  • It isn't a Hassle.
  • It makes shit easy.
  • I kind of wish I could hit "Back" for a traditional menu. I've found myself using the Xbox button to pause sometimes.

One thing really bugs me about this game. It's so fucking hard to play as the King when you're trying to stay Pure. Every good deed just puts you massively in debt. I'm trying to be the best king ever but, the treasury is down a cool million. Maybe I have to go out and buy my own property or something and fill it myself, it just seems that every day Reaver pulls out an idea that I really like and backs it with some pretty awesome facts but, I go with the woman and do the "right" thing.

This is all for another Scrubs Glimpse. Have a good day!

Before I go, How awesome is it having Reaver back?

having reaver back? meh..he was lame.

importing saves is a "trend" ? how? because one company is using it with MAYBE one or two others? so that's a trend...ok then.

glad you like the new sanctuary and system for items n crap..however it is also really stupid.  a total step backwards.

good ol' moly....how any human can fart out the bullshit he does is beyond me.

I didn't follow this game either..but I did watch the quicklook....for one who loved Fabe and Fable 2 (despite their flaws and rpg-lite nature)...that QL was all I needed to see to know I'm in no way playing this game.

no offense but if you want any of your "glimpses" to be even remotely wroth reading..may want to focus at least a little on issues/new mechanics...some kind of real info...I mean seriously..you gave more information about your not liking how hard it is to play a "good" king then you did about anything else

The sanctuary menu does not scale up well if you have 50+ weapons. You have to run back and forth reading the weapon names and then click the triggers to switch sets. A simple text menu in alphabetical order would be more efficient. I suppose that most people will not have this many weapons but it is still an issue.

@Synthballs: I haven't gotten as far as you in the game, but I'm also liking the sanctuary room(s). Maybe it's just the animation style, but I like sweeping the magnifying glass around the map, and zooming in to towns/areas.
Also liking the method for changing clothes.

Thanks as well for the heads up about money issues down the road. I only owned a few pieces of property in Fable II; good to know I should landlord-up this time around.

Don't fall too much in love with Jasper's narration. There's a random glitch where he'll just straight up stop talking. It happened to me about 3 or 4 hours in (which was pretty early on plot-wise as I was taking my time). I was hoping he'd come back, but he never did.

What people are saying about magic spells being unlocked, they must be talking about magic levels. I didn't mind that, myself.

@Synthballs: I've heard to really get into being the king you needed to have been seriously involved in real estate. Now I understand why I was warned about it. But it doesn't matter. I'm probably only halfway through the story proper and I've got over 10 Mil. That'll probably smooth over being king. What would you say is the total amount one would need to be a "pure" and good king?

Anyway, some of the changes I do like, double gauntlets rule, and John Cleese is funny as always, however the zelda-style shops and lack of menus do frustrate me a bit. It's not a huge inconvenience, but it's not necessarily a change for the better either. Though it is fun to see your gold in physical form. My lectern is almost buried in gold, and Jasper says some funny things about your fortune.

I did have an issue with the game in the sense that I got married in the gazebo in Millfields, and I was escorting my wife to my Millfields mansion... only to have her die a minute later in a balverine attack. That was just cheap of the game.

@XII_Sniper: My wife died the day after I married her. Bullshit. As for how much do you need? I'm pretty sure you need to be over 6,500,000. Which really isn't alot. I finished the game with over 10 million debt or something. All those right choices were bad ones in the end.

@MightyMayorMike: I hope I never get that glitch, it's comforting.

@sarahsdad: I am loving the map, I'm also loving the way you change outfits. It just works well.

@groin: Wow, I stuck with default sword and pistol the whole time so didn't really get to that inconvenience, I can see that it would suck though.

@Norusdog: Way to douche it up, if I wanted to write what you wanted to write it would just be a review. That's now what this is about. They're just random thoughts that i've put down. I'm not trying to win a fucking award.
