@spacekatgal:

You are a bunch of men having a discussion about what you feel is a fair resolution for industry issues affecting industry women.

Some of your opinions are fine. Some are not. But I do want to remind you - there are not really women involved in the conversation here. And I'd like you to think about that.

This is exactly my issue. All opinions are just that, opinions. There's no fine and not fine. Sure some people are assholes about it and should be called out for it. You can also disagree with them but opinions are not facts and therefore you can say you THINK that opinion isn't fine but you can't categorically deny it by stating it as such.

But moreso I take umbrage that since we're men talking about women's issues we therefore shouldn't have an opinion. Much of what I say comes from listening to my wife (also an avid gamer) who loved Bayonetta and disagrees MORE vehemently than I do about Anita's videos. She refuses to say her piece on this issue because she's seen how women who have disagreed have been treated by the 'good' side and so has washed her hands of the whole thing which is disappointing to me because with her being a professional writer I think she could add quite a bit of good perspective to this situation which I could not even come close to conveying.

The one thing that bugs me about this issue is how it is always shown as one sided too. There have been dozens if not more instances of people (female and male) in 'gamergate' being threatened and doxxed and yet none of these things are mentioned by articles talking about it and that includes @patrickklepek and @alexwhich I've called out a few times and got either shut down (shortly after I posted a comment about this on the Bombin in the AM video comments on youtube the comments got turned off) or just flat out ignored (the same comment was posted at the top of Monday's BITAM video)

@patrickklepek: No, I think it's fear of disagreeing because the second you disagree about something labeled feminist you're instantly labeled misogynist and no one wishes to deal with that swarm of bees. Hell, even someone like KiteTales who released a reasonable response to Anita's first video got ignored and there was nothing but crickets every time someone brought up 'why aren't the games journalists showing this response?'

I actually agree with Jeff about most of it, excluding the assumption that GG is just about the assholes. It's really shitty that everyone claims that is the case when you go to the tag itself and most people are civil or at worst a bit snarky, and most active people on the tag have been pointing out abuse for reporting to twitter. Of course like any community there are the douchebags but I think the benefits of using the tag to organize outweigh the fact that a few assholes use it too. (And before someone tells me they should change the tag, even IF you could get everyone to agree to that, the assholes would still follow).

Yes, it started with the Zoe incident and yes some assholes started it (Including Adam Baldwin) but it became a lot more than that very quickly and it's a shame that people can't see past that.

I've seen a few people squee about the title card, I must have missed it or paying attention enough to realize how great it was, but, um, what was so special about it?

@arcadiaexeter: I'm betting it will, part of some Black Flag GOTY edition with the DLC included.

I don't own many video games anymore, but that depends on our definition of ownership. Even though I've purchased numerous games on Steam, Xbox Live, and PSN, I don't own them. I've purchased a license to play them, a license that won't necessarily last forever, and nothing guarantees my previous purchases will work when the next wave of hardware arrives. That's been more and more true as hardware's grown more complex.

@patrickklepek I'd like to point out that by buying a physical copy of a game you are still only licensing the software, as stated by Sony's software license agreement for example. Although it doesn't affect what you said, I think in these circumstances it's important to recognise the fact.

Excellent point!

Can I sell it? Then I own it.

Unless I physically sign an agreement that is clearly labeled as a lease, I will never accept being told that I don't own physical property that resides in my home.

Fuck Sony's software license agreement.

This, so much this. I love when people trot out this excuse like Sony/MS/Nintendo/SNK/Atari/NEC/Whomever are going to send you a letter one day telling you your license is up and to return the following list of physical games that you once purchased. If those licenses actually mattered we never would have been introduced to Windjammers.

@brodehouse: Prefer that? No, because I wouldn't get it as it came out... BUT, if that were an option (Like, get streaming plus a disc at the end of the year for X more dollars) I would definitely purchase a disc subscription that let me get each year of GB streams on Bluray.

I would have preordered it but all preorder deals were for the Xbone or the PC and I wanted the PS4 version. Reading reviews (specifically Jeff's Review) has put me into wait and see mode. Since Redbox has the PS3 version I reserved it and am going to pick it up and try it first. If I want it afterwards then I'll go grab the PS4 copy. If not, maybe I'll get Wolfenstein instead.

@cornbredx: There's a demo on Steam. It plays like any FPS control wise, excluding the traditional point and click item combining and choosing your dialog options of course.
