Its not ideal, but if you're worried about batterylife you must wait for a new hardware revision, otherwise you're gonna have to suck it up.
Yes I know, I want that slick looking 3DS myself too, but I already have a 3DS and I learn to appreciate what I got, even after Nintendo dropped the price.

Its nice to be my own gender in a game, but its also nice to have freedom in choice, sometimes you just need that specific race/class/gender combo so guys playing gals and vice versa isn't that rare, especially in rpg's and mmo's.

I tried the trial just for the character creator.
 
I never played the real game for more then a hour.
