@wlleiotl: I'm not opposed to political discussion at all. Quite the opposite. Without discussion, there is only pointless name calling and labels that have no merit and only serve to silence voters with genuine concerns, you bigot!! :P

My snark regarding political discussion is more down to how forum discussions on such topics usually devolve into a complete shit-show in record time. This thread is doing quite well so far, which is quite encouraging.

To respond to the criticism regarding Labour. I'm not swallowing any establishment line, I can assure you. There's really no need to be told what to think on any of the concerns I raised, especially when the evidence is so widely available, and in many cases committed to film. Some of that stuff is incredibly damning in my eyes, even before the media or the opposition try to manipulate or spin it to serve their own ends. Their own words speak for themselves, and I broadly (as a capitalist) find them abhorrent.

Castro was a 'Champion of Social Justice' (wut?) came from Corbyn's own mouth. Same goes for McDonnell and his marxist tendencies, along with his utter delight at the banking crisis. Labour, as it stands in it's current (and hopefully short term) form is far too cosy with the concepts of communism for my liking. And then of course there's Abbott, who I don't doubt for one moment has been subjected to a great deal of racism over the years (to the nations great shame, I should point out!), yet is completely unable to separate objective criticism of her political performance from race. "Iz it cuz I iz black?", "no dear, it's because you're dumb as a box of rocks!"

Honestly, I'm surprised you would immediately think that my distaste for Corbyn - one of the most unpopular leaders of the opposition that I can recall in my lifetime - must be due to my being uninformed. Couldn't I bat that very same argument straight back at you for supporting him? Does that give it any more validity? I think not. It's all opinion, and therefore, gravy.

While I think Labour needs massive reform in order to ever be taken seriously going fowards, certainly by me at the very least, I do hope they throw a massive spanner in the works for the Tories hubris. Regardless, I still won't vote for them.

Edit: if my reply sounds even remotely stand-offish, I apologise. But, if there's one point I can't emphasise enough, it's that a differing view isn't exclusively down to being uninformed or otherwise stupid in some way. There's room for all views, and attempts to 'shame' people into conforming with your own is the way of madness, and terrible politics overall. The video below is incredibly pertinent in this regard:

Ooo a politcal discussion. These always go so well!

To be clear (and rather divisive) from the off: I voted for Brexit, and I do not for one moment regret it, especially in light of the EUs subsequent pernicious, bully boy tactics. My resolve on that matter has only strengthened further in the intervening months. Quite frankly the EU and it's ideology from the ground up can get fucked.

With that said, as someone who tries to remain as centrist as possible, I'll be spoiling my ballot:

Labour - A spineless Castro lover in charge, a marxist (John Mcdonnell) in charge of finances, and an incompetent, race baiting idiot of a woman (Diane Abbot) in charge of defenses. Hell no to all of the above.

Conservative - A woman that can't seem to make her mind up on anything, and thinks she can get away with any number of outrageous manifesto pledges under the guise of delivering Brexit; something I believe she will backslide on massively in the long-run anyway. My biggest issue has been her complete disregard for the security of the country for far too long, and thinks the best way to resolve this is to curtail as many civil liberties (both online and off) as humanly possible and fill our cities with armed police (I am absolutely furious about that particular issue). Also, that snoopers charter is pure 1984. I will never ever vote Tory as long as that grotty little piece of legislation exists.

Lib Dems - Tim Farron is a democracy denying, homophobic weasel that has absolutely no right to label himself either liberal, or democractic - I did like his line about the Great British Bake Off in one of the recent election debates, though. It was at the very least, rather funny.

UKIP - Whilst I consider myself 'sort of' alligned with a lot of UKIP manifesto pledges, I will not support a party that wants to, like the Tories, stomp on whatever civil liberties they deem fit. Whilst I absolutely loathe the Burka and all that it stands for, I think people have the right to wear whatever they want, and that, to me, is the most important factor at all times.

For me, there really is no 'best of a bad bunch' - I find them all utterly reprehensible on some level or another and I do not, on principal, take part in tactical voting (the system needs to move to proportional representation imho). I vote solely on who I support, and I support none of them. My ballot will therefore be daubed with a big, fat, jizzy cock and balls.

Completely separate to the 'the games ruin my books' argument (which I believe to be utter bilge), Sapkowski always brings Roger Ebert to mind for me. He sounds like a man that's completely oblivious to the benefits that gaming can bring to the table, and has absolutely no interest in trying to understand what makes them so successful and cherished by so many, like the dictionary definition of 'out of touch old guy.'

The delay came about due to the devs completely changing the game. It was simply a game built around beating a bunch of boss fights, now (or rather, eventually) it's a full platformer.

I can't say I'm unhappy about that at all, and I certainly haven't forgotten about it.

What a legend! I guess the one positive thing I can say is that at least he reached a fairly ripe old age.

RIP, my good man.

@cheetoman Bear in mind that the poll asked what we'd accept or like to see, not what we think it will be. Let us have our fantasies! :P

---

I have high hopes this device can at least hit the 4 hour mark, but I guess that will depend quite a bit on the portable performance. What resolution are they going with? Will it be capable of 60fps, or will they stick with 30?

There's at least 3 batteries crammed into this thing: one in the console itself, and then one in each of the individual controllers. I really hope that the portable side is able to make good use of that, so long as they remain connected of course. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it shakes out.

I'm so glad that the Mario Kart 8 soundtrack is getting the high praise it so rightly deserves.

I don't even like sax very much (too parpy!), but MK8 absolutely nails it. I can't think of a single game that comes even close to it.

I spent more time pondering that 'One True Anime Editor' question than I'd care to admit.

Bio-engineer is obviously the best Too Human Class, but I admit I'm working with shaky memories.

Maybe it's just because my namesake is used, but there's a character called Pickle in it, and he has the most unbearable cockney accent. It makes me want to drive knitting needles into my ears. The Australian accents aren't much better either, but overall the voice acting sets a new low bar for annoying Borderlands characters.

In my opinion it's easily the worst of the 3 main game entries. The antigravity stuff is interesting in theory, but the game does so little with it that it's barely worth talking about. I'd always just replay 1 or 2 instead of this.

My thoughts were that as The Boy, we were being controlled by the The Blob from the very beginning of the game. Basically, I think that The Blob engineered an escape plan, and The Boy was simply a meat-puppet that executed the plan for it.

The secret door with the secret code reinforced that belief further: You simply shut down and become like everyone else - You pulled the cord that kept The Blob in control of you...But at what cost etc?
