This. I find it hard to belive that in this day and age a large company like Sony, who have the consumer base that they do, can't (or don't bother to) inform their users of such a massive error as this. That's assuming they saw this coming, which is worse if they didnt.. "

as a guy that works on servers quite regularly i can contribute to this line of thought. This really strikes me as one of two things.  1: Mr. Dudeman pulls the wrong plug, pushes the wrong button or changes the wrong piece of data at the wrong time. BOOM! Sony HQ explodes.  2: Software error in the server's make up or sony's proprietary trophy software (which seems more likely as all the PS3s of a specific model have all died on the exact same day and date.  my guess, they didn't account for all possible variables (which considering the amount of skus out there for these consoles isn't too surprising) and it backfired causing nuclear fallout accross the world. "
