I've been stuck in a similar rut for close to a year now. I rarely play games by myself and the most hours I put in are on weekends with friends of mine. I used to engage in a lot of solo gaming but now it's purely a social thing.
My brother lives in Alexandria and he went into D.C. to see this exhibition. He's told me that the exhibition largely focuses on a broad overview of video game history and there weren't too many interesting things for him to see. However, he does believe that this is another watershed moment for video games in which they are introduced to mainstream crowds who have very little knowledge about them. Personally, I am very excited that something like this exists in the Smithsonian. I feel like moments like this bring video games ever closer to the forefront of mainstream media and hopefully this will allow people to understand games in a new way.
A few days ago a friend of mine gave me a Deadmau5 album called 4X4=12. So far I've been enjoying it quite a bit, but I've never listened to a lot of electronic music before and I have little history with the genre. For any fans of this music genre, what else is out there? I would really like to explore more of this type of music.
Like everyone above has said, the Silent Hill games always handled atmosphere beautifully. They all contain very creepy areas to explore and include atmospheric sound design. While the series has a set of quirks that may be hard to adjust to, it is completely worth it to soldier through the games on the easiest difficulty just for the great experience that these games offer.
Good job. I want more F-Zero. GX was too fast for me, and I didn't like it tracks as much as I did the ones in X, so I hope if they do another, it's closer to X.
It's definitely not worth worrying about. High school is going to be the only time you have the freedom to do what you want. Things only get harder after that, so live it up.
