Hey there, got me a pretty sweet deal on a one x on black friday that included BFV! I have played pretty much all the battlefields except the two most recent ones on PC, been giving this one a go on a console and must say, I dont understand the broad negativity around it, I am very much enjoying it!

The bad part is, all my BF buds are still on the PC, and BF is very much a game that is best enjoyed in a coordinated squad. If there´s any cool duders on here in the same position, feel very free to add Blodigmorot for some conquest jank! Cheers

Came in really skeptical, Ubisoft just hasn't been doing it for me in recent years but I gotta say, I had an absolutely great time with it. The story seemed super-bland and especially the dialogue was almost comically bad with it's "gritty realness = constant cursing", but it's far outweighed by what in my opinion is a pretty great loot-shooter.

I especially liked the story-mission in hardmode, which can get pretty hectic. DZ was pretty hit-or-miss for me, did get one really great session when I teamed up with 3 randos and got a good 20 goodies out of there before we were ambushed by rogues. The tension in the extraction-zones was awful/amazing. I do disagree with the sentiment that the overworld feels empty or lifeless, I think it's essential to the fantastic atmosphere and it's really great to just wander around doing side-missions when you're feeling tired of DZ and the like, just to wind down a bit and take in the details of the environment.

Debating on whether or not to preorder. Having been burnt before by Destiny beta, which also left me feeling pretty excited, I really want some more information on how much of this game there actually will be at launch and what the end-game will look like. I also think games like this depend heavily on having a group of people you regularly play with, and I don't think I even know anyone who owns a PS4 so I'm kind of screwed on that front.

So yeah, not a 100% sold on it but the beta has definitely made me interested!

The problem with VO and, by extension, the one cut-out character in a Beth game is limitation of dialogue options. Like someone above mentioned, it will most likely lead to two possible character choices: Renegade and Paragon, which is extremely uninteresting.

That said, good VO can work in conjunction with great writing, and a great example is Witcher 3. Usually I hate RPGs where you are a pre-defined character because, again, it limits the players options. Not just from a practical "too many lines to record" standpoint but also that all the options must sort of fit into what the character would do and say, otherwise it breaks immersion. But Witcher 3 pulls it off really well because the options are almost never ME-style black/white red/blue, which keeps it really interesting. But we all know Bethesdas strong-suit is not writing, and I think they know it. I would really hate for FO to become some sort of apocalypse-mass effect, but that's just my opinion.

Also having said that, I seem to remember watching some interview with Todd Howard from GDC last year where the question about voiced PCs came up, and he seemed quite adamant in keeping the "freedom of character creation", so my money is on the vault-dweller just being used for promos and trailers etc. like the dovahkiin or whatever for Skyrim. We'll see at E3 I guess!

Fantastic trailer, I'm on the hype train.. couple of negatives though, I was hoping Fallout would be done with the Brotherhood of Steel and it kind of looks like they're back, if they are I at the very least hope they are not painted as black/white "good guys" like they were in 3... Morally gray factions are much more interesting, and I think that was New Vegas biggest improvement from FO3

And I really, really hope the talking PC doesnt mean we have a pre-defined character, like Sheppard or Geralt. I think it works for those games but for Fallout I prefer an anonymous vault-dweller.

Man, I am so ready. I've spent more time with FO3 than any other game by far, and I think it was a fantastic game, warts and all. I love RPGs but I cant really stand fantasy settings, and Fallouts very specific brand of dark humour and future 50s really stands out I think.

I'm calling it now, release holiday of 2015. Bethesda has stated (somewhere?) that they wish to shorten the window between announcement - release, and it's been a really long time since Skyrim. Maybe it's just wishful thinking though!
