I think it's given the benefit of the doubt on the back of the franchise's history; we assume it will have a lot of the same structural/thematic elements, and so we're excited at the possibility of those being married to these new elements. Elements that appear to directly address criticisms of previous franchise entries. That's why it's interesting (and important) for them to show these banal details: because while we've seen these elements before, they have never been in a Zelda game before.

I certainly wouldn't classify myself as a Nintendo fan, but they've earned enough respect for me to "please be excited" over simple triumphs.

Holy shiiiiiiiiiiittt I wasn't prepared for thiiiiiiiiis omg.

Best of luck elsewhere, Austin. You elevated every discussion and helped me understand how I want to talk about things - not just games, but a whole variety of subjects. You helped me expand my perspective. You're the best.

It would be nice if his account as it existed could be enshrined in some way. It's beautiful that as long as this site is up his face will never disappear from it, but preserving his presence elsewhere as a memorial seems...important? I'm not saying accounts of the deceased should remain active forever, but some kind of alternative way of hosting that might be good.

Again, wishes of the family and all that...but I miss him and would read through his Twitter sometimes ;(

It runs pretty well! I hear this is running on the same version of the engine that powered Dying Light, but I haven't played that so I can't compare performance. I only played for a little bit, but I had a locked 60 with at least most of the settings turned up. My understanding is there aren't any gameplay changes, they just bundled in the DLC (which I heard was garbage) and changed the engine. Some cutscenes are lit weird because they changed the lighting engine. Digital Foundry has a comparison up, if you want more details.

I don't have one (yet), but I just want to say I stand with you in aspiring towards one. Dell has an ultra-wide Ultrasharp at 1440, and I covet it more than most things.

One thing I know can be an issue is games stretching if they don't have support for that aspect ratio, but I believe third-party utilities can at least force those to pillarbox instead.

[Edit:] I just happened to have this open in another tab, if you haven't already visited there.

@the_nubster: I'm with you, though it sounds more The Fragile era to me - specific touchstones being Pilgrimage and Just Like You Imagined. But it's such its own thing, takes obvious influence from the best in the genre and stands strong in its own right. It makes me wish DOOM 3 had a soundtrack that could match its title screen music, because DOOM 2016 is probably my favorite Industrial album in years.

I'm not sure I'd buy any of them. I would not be able to enjoy my purchase as I'd be far too worried about whatever apocalyptic occurrence was stopping me ever getting any of the others in the future.

Upon further reflection, this is the right answer. Though hopefully voting for DOOM means that I'll be able to fight off the apocalyptic occurrence and purchase the other two.

I'm glad I read through this thread after the game was 1.) out, and 2.) amazing, because it was a feel-good story from the very beginning.

This game fills me with hope. Because RAGE was kinda bad, and that bummed me out. I was ready for DOOM to be bad too, and I've never been more glad to be SUUUUUPER wrong. I'm having more fun than I've had with any other shooter. Ever.

@zevvion: Yup, and the wilder thing is that minors can get busted on CP charges for taking pictures of themselves. I mean...they're minors? So...they don't see the same consequences as adults, but it still goes on their record and follows them through life.

Really, it isn't too hard to avoid trouble if you keep your head on your shoulders, but I really wish we had more common-sense solutions for when kids make mistakes.

Source: I work in a K-12 school district and the police get involved every time kids get frisky.

EDIT: Unless you are in the US. They have an extremely weird history of lawsuits based on this stuff. Like teens who exchange nude pics with consent being charged for pedophilia and actually being found guilty when the age difference was one or two years.

This part. Just very careful. If y'all were dating before you were 18, and if you're familiar with the minor's family, you're probably fine. But realize that you're basically at the mercy of their legal guardian's rules - with that small of an age difference, it's unlikely to go super bad, but hey. Ethically? Seems fine. People get weird about age gaps (not one that small), but some relationships are worth it. As long as you play by the rules, doesn't matter what anyone else says - do what feels right to you, because that's the only thing that will matter further down the road.

Sorry for the Life Advice, but the Age Gap Issue has ended up close to my heart. Just be aware of your local age of consent and the laws surrounding it because however special your relationship is it is not worth jail time. If it's as magical as you feel, it isn't going to disappear once they're legal.
