Which system will win my love?

So, I've picked up both the Xbox One and the Playstation Four, I had both preordered at release and for some reason right up until the day I picked up the One at least, I was still not sure weather I wanted both. Needed both. Needed either.

After fully paying off my preorders for both systems I came into the possession of a more than capable desktop gaming PC which has really blown away any of my ideals of what games should looks like, how smooth they should run and how quickly they should load.

Now, only two games have really made me feel that I was looking at next generation systems when it comes to the consoles:

  • Forza 5
  • Killzone:Shadow Fall

I can't help but feel that if Watchdogs was released at the release of these systems that we might feel a bit different. But the problem is that both of these games mentioned are exclusive to these consoles and we cant compare how they would run on PC.

After running Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag on my PC and seeing how absolutely gorgeous it looks, PC's are definitely the ruling race. No matter how much extra pull developers will be able to gain from these systems.

I guess we wait for the communities to fight it out

Xbox One Pre Order Reasons

At the moment I am hand over heels excited for the new Microsoft Xbox One to be released, during E3 I must admit I was all but sold on the Playstation 4. With Microsoft confirming that traded games would only be through certified shops such as gamestop (ebgames in AUS) and you could only trade your games once and with people that had been on your list for more than 30 days . The console needing to be connected every 24 hours for updates and no offline gaming. I actually went down the week and pre ordered a Playstation 4.

I want to give a background to why I have chosen to get an Xbox One even with the large amount of 'bad energy' that has been expelled by Microsoft and its opponents.

My Current Generation Experience

This generation for me has been 99.9% Xbox orientated, my friends list constantly at overflow and any rotation was based on if I'd played with the individual THAT week.

Now, I was slow taking up the multiplayer experience, first finding it on Lost Planet and then UNO when a couple of American fella's latched on to me and got me to spin up Rainbow6. Now at the time I stunk. Honestly, truly stunk. From there I picked up the Call of Duty experience and became an avid soldier of the field, joined a clan called 'Cant Play 4 Shit'. And the name fit. We were terrible still. From there I joined a group of Australians called '.ozy', where I started honing my skills, get the experience of outsmarting other players and even latching together 3 or 5 kills in a row. UNHEARD of at the time.

Finally the same guys introduced me to a group of very talented players and we started a clan called 'Anzac Death Dealers'. This is where I took off and stretagist and keen/avid player. During MW2, Black OPs, MW3 and most recently Black Ops 2 I have played largely Hardcore branded Search and Destroy and Team Deathmatch to get my XP and gun XP complete. My death ratio has average from the low 2.2 to 2.6 and I've been revered and extremely hated during clan and public games.

I think this side of my gaming is on hold now that I have a young son born in September 2012. There just isn't time to give the extreme obsession and concentration I used to give. It might be that I've already given about 5 years to this type of game, it might also be that I've just grown out of it.

My interest has changed to single player experiences that give an amazing storyline, gameplay and spectacle. However, I really did enjoy a few coop games of the past, the perfect example would be the Borderlands games. My gamertag for Xbox LIVE is 'I MonkeyMagic I' and my gamerscore at the time of writing this is 286,824.

When I purchased my Playstation 3, I didn't really think that there would be cross over of games, at the time there was speculation of exclusives on both sides. The only reasons I must admit that I haven't been heartbroken by what the PS3 has given me would be the fact that its a bluray player, the uncharted series, singstar series and only recently the last of us. So four of those games that are included were by the same games developer 'Naughty Dogg'. Actually as I think about it, Sucker Punches, 'inFAMOUS' was fabulous and I'm currently playing 'inFAMOUS 2'. Obviously with the Playstation 4, Sony understand how they have failed with their last console and they have made major steps in advacing their online experience which was non existant compared the LIVE's party chat and chat in general.

The Xbox One Console

The Xbox One appears to be a much larger physical box compared to the Playstation 4. However, there is a certain symmetry with a strong rectangular body and 45 degree angle at the front, the console does resemble the 360. The box looks very similar to the desktop that I current use with my gaming TV.

When it comes to the new generations spec's both consoles are running on X86 circuits identical to PC's making games design incredibly easier compared to the current generation and we will no doubt assist in cross platforms running at close to parity performance.

  • 8gb of standard GDDR3 (3gb will be used by OS)
  • Custom 8 core CPU
  • 500gb HD
  • Smartglass second screen
  • Twin rumble controller
  • Kinect 2.0 (in the box)

Now, the other selling point for the Xbox is that I have adored the 360's controller, it fits my hands, its heavy and contoured the way I love it. The triggers are exactly that. Triggers. So at the time, this was 33% of the selling point for me. Obviously I have slowly come over the new dualshock 4. And I will go through that in my Playstation 4 pre order blog entry.

As for this poor Kinect 2.0, my god Playstation fans are jumping on the bandwagon of the US government 'watching' all users. I personally am very excited by the possibilities of this item, it can tell if you pass the controller to another player, it can see your fingers, it can tell your pulse by the colour of your face. My expectation or hope, would be that this new design can read your body correctly 97% of the time and hear your voice clearly 97% of the time. If it works that consistly within a fairly small space, I will be all about this motion controller.

DMC: Devil May Cry bloody hilarious boss

I was just bouncing around the forums and found a thread talking about series that you weren't interested in until a sequel etc caught your attention.

Mine was the Devil May Cry series and I had to find and link a certain boss that I found absolutely hilarious, so funny that I laughed out loud.

Check it out..
