I'm not voting for him cuz I'm super not a Libertarian, but with Gary Johnson this could be the year that a third party hits that magic 5% and starts getting the same treatment as Dems and Republicans (federal funding, invites to debates).

That's not how this works. They can just move the goalpost.

I'm sure Baker will do a good job but I kind of feel like Roger Craig Smith already really nailed the detective side of Batman in Origins that they seem to be angling towards here. It's just kind of weird that Roger Craig Smith hasn't been used for Batman stuff post Origins but Baker has been used plenty. Like they had the suicide squad animated movie with Troy Baker Joker but with Kevin Conroy Batman. Obviously Conroy IS Batman but Roger Craig Smith was really good and makes sense as a second choice.

It'll take a couple hundred years to get there but of course no one will do anything about it before it's too late, just look at global warming, I imagine that we'll simply see more suffering and that'll be that with nothing done in response except more methods to shuffle the poor and homeless out of view.

Oh also it's cute that people still think art isn't going to be automated in the future. Honestly it'd be easier to automate then most jobs.

I only really end up having a problem when the narrative as a whole trends towards the politically distasteful so that it pervades the sum total of the experience. Like this recent Ghost Recon Wildlands trailer is just off putting because it feels like Ted Cruz is narrating it and it's seems entirely about making you feel like a badassâ„¢ which feels like a "downgrade" after MGSV's multiple hours of tapes and missions that do a good job of humanizing the regional conflicts and making absolutely clear to the player that you are not some chosen good guy here to rescue everyone and stop the "bad people" and even gives you a massive wealth of non-lethal tools.

I only bring up the comparison because Wildlands is promising to be Phantom Pain in a much more varied and larger region but the recent trailer implies the recent Ubisoft trend of "Morally Muddied" story tone that's really just a way to indulge in cynical trash that's always one heartbeat away from a republican wet dream but always technically not. Watchdogs>Division>This. Can Ubisoft get out of this rut now?

I don't understand people who state they're quitting an entire medium because I'm not sure that's a thing you can do. Like how does one quit music? You have to then proceed to quit every single other medium and stick plugs in your ears. How do you quit games?

"Hey Jim do want play some poker?"

"No sir I've quit games!"

"You mean you've grown tired of playing poker?"

"No I'm actually tired of Magic the Gathering and wasting money on trading cards!"

"Do you still enjoy poker?"

"I still enjoy poker and in fact I enjoy it for reasons that cause me to dislike Magic the Gathering!"

"So do you want to play poker then Jim?"

"I want to but you see I've quit games so I can't!"

What.

The song doesn't fit and the trailer itself is bad but looking at the individual bits of the movie it looks like there's a lot of production value and skill being put in although the funky animus rig kind of comes off as one of those silly hollywood changes...

Still too soon to say either way if it'll be a good movie but we already know with certainty that this isn't the breakout hit that starts a flood of videogame movies because this thing is not going to make any money with Rogue One eating it's lunch.

According to most people now a days the only good thing about Phantom Pain is it's controls. <_<

Phantom Pain controls super well but like the rest of the game you have to be focused on it to get the most out of it. I was surprised at being able to easily thread between noise making objects with gaps only as large as the character as long I was focused and careful with the analog stick because I usually suck at that sort of thing. There are things that kind of look silly but functionally work well like the fact you can hit the stance button while dashing to come to a halt immediately. It looks silly but it feels good to do.

It just translates the range of actions a Metal Gear game has much better then MGS4 did when it initially made the jump to right trigger left trigger. I know a lot of people like to complain that you could do more in 4 then V but whatever was lost in that transition so much more was lost going from 2/3 to 4. You could lean in those games! Then again I'm one of the crazies that thinks MGS2 and 3 control super well when you learn them.

I also second Wolfenstein: TNO what with the analog stick leaning working way better then I expected.

I hope the story is much improved but the first game had famous voice talent and I barely noticed so this doesn't mean much just yet.

Maaaan I was going into watching this trailer thinking I'd give it a chance. The generic dialogue! The generic setting! Like I enjoyed Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 1's campaigns but you couldn't find anything in this game's story to put in the trailer? Like it's a trailer showing the campaign right? Then the Bowie cover. I was bored until that happened then I just started swearing at the screen!

I'm sorry I know I'm probably coming off as a bit of an asshole for harping on it but it come's off as such a fucking marketing move. I hated it when they used it in that car commercial with Neil Armstrong but at least it had Neil Armstrong and you could kind of pretend it was honoring both of them if you squinted but this is not just a bad cover but it's also the fucking poster child of pro-war games and considering David Bowie literally wrote a song titled "I'd rather be high" about how he'd rather be high then send people off to war in the middle east then yeah fuck that.

It's really distracting when say the trailers to Black Ops 3 felt it was totally fine to use "Paint it Black" for it's associations with Full Metal Jacket even though now you've just brought to mind a Kubrick anti-war film in comparison to your dumb fun pro-war shooter.

Oh fun fact MGSV using a, good, cover of "The Man Who Sold the World" wasn't in the trailers it was in the game proper, had thematic relevance, and wasn't plastered on marketing.

Sorry just needed to vent for a second. If the next Micheal Bay movie used a Bowie cover for it's trailer you can bet I'd be just as angry and film doesn't have an inferiority complex over if it's art or not. (Yes games are art doesn't mean all art is tastefully done.) Again. Sorry.

It's laughable that that's a thing that they actually said with words.

We are creating an amazing, credible, expansive and fictional world for players to experience. We decided on Bolivia as the setting for our game primarily due to the beauty and diversity of the country. Its environment is perfectly suited to the type of open world gameplay we want to offer to players.

Translation:

I wanted to meet interesting and stimulating people...and kill them.

I'm not even sure why their response to the potential PR baggage is to just shrug it off instead of just highlighting the non-lethal weapons that will no doubt be in this game right? If the game is highlighting gameplay choice then I have to assume there's a bunch of tranq guns and stun guns and stuff right? If not just stick one or two of those in there and you can just point to that instead of coming off laughably tone deaf. I mean it doesn't actually solve all that much of what people would probably complain about if the game still has the tone of that first bloodcocaine reveal but it would mitigate the PR issue they might encounter.
