Much love to Ben Pack, the OG GlenTennis on here, and the only one willing to defend Smash Bros honor against Jeff G. I'll miss the shit out of you big fella.
Nintendo is the one major company in games I feel like you can't really predict. They zig when everyone else zags. At least since the Gamecube was a semi-flop that's been their MO, subvert expectations and do their own thing while leaving the standard console war battle to Sony and MS.
@digitaldisco: in terms of industry types I definitely expect to see the vast majority of the attention paid to management. but for the mainstream audience I feel like the knee-jerk reaction is to just blame the people that literally made the game. People who just buy cool space-man games at the store don't really know or care about the context of dev crunch they just want Skyrim with lasers.
And it will be interesting to see what if any effects this boondoggle will have on future cert processes.
Feel for the devs. They're going to get raked over the coals for this and it wasn't even their fault the game was rushed. But this is a wild precedent to set and I'm curious what the future looks like where janky ass games can just be pulled from stores completely.
Firmly in wait and see mode. I want to play the new Yakuza first but in general I have a solid tolerance for "open world jank" as Ryan used to say if the experience is worth it aside from the rough edges. Fallout 3 and New Vegas the two most obvious examples. So perhaps wait for a price drop or stabilizing patch
Best wishes towards the future Abby! She came in and right off the bat fit with the rest of the Bomb crew very well. I was impressed. And she broke important ground as the first woman to be part of the staff. She had to take a lot of undue guff throughout the years but always maintained a love for the site and most of its fans who could be respectful.
