No contest here for the #1 spot. XCOM takes the fluid, tough combat Firaxis nailed in Civ 5 and adds a persistent layer of strategy filled with satellites and pissed-off countries.
Best open world game since Red Dead Redemption. Great story and great combat, but where this game really shines is the design. There is always something cool to do, a truck to hijack, a lockbox to open, or just some fools looking to throw down.
"Now wait a minute, this is a 2011 game!" - random idiot <br>

I'm talking about the ENHANCED EDITION here, pal.
Remember Civ 5? It's that but with more civilizations, espionage, and religion.
Madden 13 was a disaster, let's be honest. FIFA 13 really returns me to the glory days of EA sports games. Well designed and great gameplay.
Easily the most ambitious game of 2012. It didn't fully deliver for me, but I enjoyed so much of it that I can't ignore it.
