Thanks for the insight, I posted on PSX and now I play the waiting game! :)
Yeah I don't have the patience or the faith in Sony fixing a broken system, I had that same problem with Microsoft back in the day, I sent my Xbox out 16 different times because of the red ring of death....UGH!
Basically my PS3 froze up on me so I had to hold the power button down for the ten seconds and then it came back.....But when it came back up none of the icons on the XMB would show up and would freeze if I tried to access the system icons..So I figured out how to access the "boot" menu and I completely wiped the system back to factory setting, it deleted my game saves, all my game data...Basically the hard drive was clean.
Now I was happy and all was good, so I went into the store and started to download all my PlayStation games again. So I let it run throughout the night and woke up this morning to check them, they were all done so I went to shut my system down and low in behold the green light was back, blinking and not shutting down the PS3.
So my question is this....do you guys think a new hard drive will fix the problems or is the system fried and I am better off tossing it on eBay getting what I can for it and buying a new $300 system?
Any advice will be welcomed! Thanks guys and gals!
Back to the grind I go...Short week this week, off Thursday but have to work Wednesday and Friday to get paid for Thursday.....Anyone else have this stipulation at their job??
