I'll miss Kevin's reviews of the epic RPG's like Dragon Age or Risen that Giant Bomb can't be arsed to do. I'm sad if he was uncomfortable with the increasing video output demanded in the industry.
I regret buying BeyondPod since they made their (broken) streaming the default action for the play button. I'm guessing that is what is spamming requests possibly because they use TCP (I'm not sure I can check the packet communication without root)? I hope downloading each podcast can be a workaround. Network programming is a volatile nightmare.
Thanks for all the alternative podcast app suggestions.
@edgework No disrespect to the challenges you face because I personally know how IT work can go underappreciated but have you considered asking Rorie to publish/edit these notices? Blunt communication can feel like the most efficient between tech people but Rorie might be able to express public announcements in a more diplomatic way. He has even completed a couple Computer Science courses if I remember correctly.
I was wondering this as well. Their server is in Poland (nothing inherently wrong with that but CBS/CNet is an american corp) and whois returns a generic domain registrar.
I am guessing that it is some shady SEO-hijacking scraped mirror of CNET's gaming sites (Gamespot, Gamefaqs, Giantbomb) but who knows?
Even in the times when diplomacy is the most sensible solution, it sometimes isn’t an option.

This is the main difference to me between Bethesda's Fallout 3 and Chris Avellone's Fallout (New Vegas and 2). The conversations in the latter games branch deeper and broader depending on many different skills. The preposterous narrative of Fallout New Vegas is even it's own reward in some instances instead of loot. I still appreciate replaying Fallout 3 (with mods) after a long break but the hamfisted parody scenarios (gated communities, cult religions, union decay etc.) fall flat for me because the 'good' solution is almost always to exile or kill the bad guy. Conversation options in shades of grey create a more convincing level of agency than paragon/renegade to me.
Anyways, thanks for the writeup. I visited Republic of Dave after the ending in my first playthrough when I realized I had missed out, but I can't remember if I ever finished the quest. The Superhuman Gambit was probably my favorite side quest in Fallout 3 but a quest like Come Fly With Me from Fallout New Vegas is much more memorable.
Hacking in Deus Ex HR, rushing/overwatch in XCOM EU (offset by run'n'gun).
I don't know if manual docking vs. autopilot in X3 counts. You can save some time at the risk of wrecking your ship against the station. Once you've done it 100 times it starts getting old.
