@Napalm: Yeah, I could tell it would have been fun if it hadn't been basically a slideshow. You weren't by any chance on PS3 were you? I played on 360.
@Napalm: that's not the section I'm talking about, there was a mission where you had to take control of a ship while gang members arrived by boat and helicopter. I was only able to get through the section by hiding in a small room and letting the engines come to me because with all the enemies onscreen the framerate was embarrassingly low. I couldn't believe it made it into the shipping game. The mission was called "the enemy of my enemy"
Unless they made some hugely substantial improvements to the engine over SR2, I can't comprehend how anywhere near 8 players on the same map could be possible. I remember specifically a mission on a boat from SR2 where the framerate dropped to approximately 8 FPS. This was a mainline story mission. In any case, I found 2 to be quite fun and am looking forward to "the third".
I'm also not a big fan of racing games, and it's disappointing to see assets reused so blatantly, but as a native of LaCrosse, WI I'm mostly just excited to see that it's made its way into a video game! (Although as far as I can tell there aren't any roads in the city of LaCrosse that look like that, they've got the feeling of the country roads seemingly down pretty well- but farms aren't generally positioned that closely together.)
Frankly I'm surprised they haven't adopted this idea yet.
Now that is some in depth information that will certainly help me to decide regarding tough purchasing decisions. And so easy to read! Thanks Giant Bomb!
I personally feel that Treyarch makes superior multiplayer CoD experiences while Infinity Ward excels at single player. It could be just my experience, but it seems as though IW multiplayer is constantly plagued by exploitative class and killstreak combinations that are game-breakingly overpowered, while Treyarch's games appear to have been playtested to an extent where they are more fully balanced. Despite this, I do still believe that IW has to be given cred for essentially creating the modern online FPS, but they seem to be far too cocky. IMO, multiplayer in MW3 is better than MW2 so far- although I've only played an hour and a half so that could easily change substantially with time.
