I'm going to name two for different generations of consoles:
Playstation 3: Demon's Souls - It's such an amazing game with a great replaybility since it's hard and difficulty steps up a notch everytime you start a new game+.
Playstation 2: Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence - I would say Snake Eater, but the new camera on Subsistence is a great improvement, I must have finished the game like more that 50 times (after a while you just stopped counting).
But I did drop 150€ (roughly 195$ USD) on the God Of War Ultimate Trilogy Edition but that's 3 games, so I'm not sure it counts.
I think we should call this kind of decision "Leap Of Jeff" and shall be described as "The act of buying something expensive, fully aware of the risk that you might be hating that decision for the rest of your life, but believing you probably are doing the best decision ever."
First Person Example: I bought Alone In The Dark Inferno for the PS3 after I saw the reviews and was aware the game was probably not good. I made a Leaf Of Jeff.
After God Of War Collection gets massive sales, it certainly attract other companies to do the same, recycling games saving money and time since the game is only being "ported" with new effects and stuff. ICO and Shadow Of the Colossus sounds a good thing to do. Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 would also be a good idea, and although I would like the same treatment for the following, I know it's not very rentable: Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time trilogy, Shinobi and Nightshade, and Zone Of The Enders 1 and 2.
Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2. There's also some new stuff: Brutal Legend, Dragon Age Origins, Alpha Protocol and The Saboteur. From what I recall that's it... Oh Darksiders, is it coming out this year?
