Hi guys!

I want to share a project I've been working for a few months now called "Pinball Labs". Pinball Labs is a new virtual pinball simulator and editor built with Unreal Engine 4.

With Pinball Labs you'll be able to design, share and play your own pinball tables. Heavy emphasis has been placed on accurate physics and visuals. Pinball Labs supports regular displays as well as Virtual Reality headsets and multi-monitor Virtual Cabinet setups.

There's a downloadable proof-of-concept demo on the Kickstarter page to get a feel for the physics and visuals. You can find a lot more information about the project there too.

If you have any questions about Pinball Labs, fire away!

Here are a few videos from the project:

It seems to me that the responsibility should fall on the publisher/developer with a small disclaimer on the back of the product that there is a one time use code needed to have a full experience.

The publisher isn't the one reselling it without all of the original content/keys. So in this case you can't fault them.

I can't decide whether to grab this on IOS or Wii VC (where I can play with my SNES classic controller.)

The wii version is $2 cheaper (assuming they charge standard price) for what that's worth.

I would say if you have retina display iOS device for sure get the iOS version. But even if you have an older device the ability to play anywhere is a pretty compelling reason too. I have an iPhone 4 so I can only vouch for that. But I'm super happy with it. :) (and here I was trying to go to bed early, doh!)

Controls damn well. Same old movable analog stick from Square's other iOS RPGs, which is pretty great. And that art on a dense wide-angle screen... Holy shit. It's awesome.

Yep controls are great!

I've also noticed how good the graphics looked.. and yet at the same time I could tell they seemed to be the same graphics/artwork from the SNES.

What they have done is "pull the camera out" so to speak, modified the code to draw further out than what you'd see on the SNES. It reminds me of how when Pixar released some of their movies to DVD in "fullscreen" 4:3 aspect ratio. Instead of having the black bars on top and bottom they re-render the scenes such that those 'black bar' areas are filled in with what was off camera from the theatrical release. I Also noticed the graphics scaling filter is tuned just right such that the art is scaled up smoothly (as it has to be to some extent given the source art) without being overly pixelated.

So you get the best of both worlds, the nostalgia of the original but it's zoomed out and filtered well enough that you have better graphics and more detail on the screen.

@Brackynews

I don't see how sending them an opt out letter protects me. Regular postal mail is not tracked. How would I know Microsoft received my opt out? What proof would I be able to offer to show that I sent the letter at a latter time?

Sony does it, "holy shit what the fuck its the end of times fuck you". Microsoft does it, "meh."

Gamer logic.
It's more that it was shocking and outrageous when Sony did it simply because they did it first (out of these two example companies).

I think we're just as disgusted by it just this time it's not unexpected.
