Tobybobo's GOTY list 2014

My favorite games of 2014.

List items

  • Pure unfilthered fun. With all of the issues of the original D3 release absolutely removed and so much new content added, this is an absolute must play for any action rpg, loot fan.

  • Gotta get just a few more strange coins before Xur visits the tower. Also that VOG run was an absolute blast and when I finally have enough ascendant materials my gun will be an absolute powerhouse. Also Nightfall strikes are pretty nice. Uhmm...

What I'm trying to say is that even though Destiny is not at all the game any of us was expecting... I still can't put this game down. There's just something about the core weirdness and "newness" of the game that intrigues me. The gameplay is solid and I wish there was more content, as most people do. But what is there in the form of strikes and especially the raids are absolutely insanely fun if you have the right team with a mindset that matches yours. Destiny is the weirdest thing you guys. And I'm really enjoying being a part of the beginning of something fresh.

  • Even though Shadow of Mordor takes some bold liberties with the licence, I could look past that and just have fun. For an open world game that could easily have been an Assassins Creed and Batman clone, we insdead got a game which iterated on these core concepts in various meaningful ways. Also the Nemesis System (tm) is freaking bonkers!

  • Absolutely the best expansion for one of my favorite games of all time.

  • Did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Singleplayer is diverse and interesting, whilst keeping with the "COD" formular where it makes sense. Mobility is extemely awesome, and in multiplayer this makes all the difference.

  • What a fun little game. Luftrausers does everything right, from the minimalistic yet effective style, to the pumpin' soundtrack and progression. This is pick up and play at its best. (Vita Version = Never bored on a bus/trainride again)

  • This is like South Park. But a game. But it looks like South Park... and is a game. They nailed it. I love it.

  • I've never been a fan of the MGS series. I've always wanted to be. After the first playthrough I thought "yeah.. this is great. What a nice little thing". After obsessing over the game for several hours wanting to know more and more and more, I finally realized what crazyness and genious I have been missing out on. Look out MGS. Toby's about to devour you whole!

  • I shat my pants several times. As a massive fan of Alien and Aliens, this was an unexpected treat beyond compare.

  • Hearthstone on my list once again. I'm allowed, it's my list! This game continues to entertain me immensly, and now that the iPad version is out I'm basically doomed. When the iPhone version comes out I may never leave the toiled in a timely manner ever again.
