I think your off base on this one.  The fact that it is even hinting at rape or bondage is pretty creepy.

The only thing I would say that might be stupid would be buying a high quality guitar just to say you have one.  If all you are planning on doing is dicking around in your room just get a cheaper one.  Don't be that guy that carries around his guitar outside and randomly starts playing boring folk songs thinking he's bad ass.

Let's be real here, video game protagonist are hardly "characters".   I like Link too, but why do I like him?  Is he interesting or deep or can he even talk?  No he's in a good game.  If he was only in bad games on one would like him. 

I don't know, if you owned the rights to something wouldn't you want to get paid? 

There were a lot of things I was thinking about saying, but they probably won’t help.  Best thing I can think of is, it’s easier to change your own mind than change someone else’.  Maybe look into some less literal branches of Christianity and see if you like it better.  Being Catholic can be brutal if you weren’t born into it.  Otherwise I’d move on.  I’m pretty sure you aren’t going to be able to convince them, and if you aren’t willing to look into it then I’d give up and a relationship that wouldn’t be able to last in the long term.
