@tormasturba: I don't really care for stealth mode, kinda suck at it to be honest but I do try to be stealthy when I feel like I really need to be an the other times I'm just kinda in the middle..also when it comes to shooting I suck like bad! everytime I shoot at someone it seems like the bullets are going past them instead of through them..

Well you seem to like action more and plus you're saying you miss when you shoot more often than not. Which tells me that your best course of action is... action(does my sentence structure sound as stupid as it seems to me?) so upgrade your health and gun sway skills and everything else is secondary in the skills screen, upgraded based on what sounds cool to you.

I'm personally really into stealth and purposely not reloading the game if I can help it, if I fuck up and that fuck up doesn't end in me dying. So if I fuck up and everyone starts shooting at me or hitting me then even if I end up with hardly any health I will play on. It's so enthralling playing it this way!

As for my stealth and realism focus I've jacked up the difficulty and turned all the help features in the options menu to off and I've dumped all my points into the listening skill since my listening ability is disabled, which is basically my way of making the game as hard as possible and also a way of stopping me from min-maxing in certain direction of skill.

I don't play games as much anymore but when I do it's for fantastic games like this one, thanks Naughty Dog!

You pretty much called it. It's a technical term that's thrown around to make what they're showing you look better than it actually is. You already guessed how 'in engine' can be super vague and give them a lot of outs if they don't actually have a game behind what they're showing, and it's really just a glorified cg trailer. I'm sure there are exceptions, but that's most generally the case. It's kinda like how demonstrations will sometimes say 'running on actual _ hardware.' That one's probably my favorite because it can pretty much mean 'we're playing a video file on the preliminary hardware they gave us.' Then there's 'pre-alpha footage.' That one's kinda the opposite. It's where the game is pretty much finished, but you pretend like it's like a super early build of the game and who knows how much better the final product is going to look.' Anyway. They're all pretty much just buzz words to prop up these companies' products, and that hasn't really changed over the years.

I like the hardware one too because I've always thought it could also mean it's a CG video that somebody is playing from a DVD player. I mean DVD players are hardware right? Ha ha.

As for my response to the original post, I feel like a lot of times these days they will grab a vertical slice of a game and then beef up the graphics for the stage demo to the point it looks georgous and MUST be running on a PC but this is to just get people talking about how it good it looks up to the point they've purchased it and started playing.

Half-Life and Half-Life 2 revolutionised how games were made.

Counter-Strike and Team Fortress 2 are two of the most popular multiplayer games of all time.

Steam radically changed (most believe 'improved', many believe 'saved') and then cornered the PC gaming market. They did it while maintaining an incredibly positive public image.

Yeah, they're pretty overrated.

How did Half-Life revolutionise games? They weren't the first shooters, and the technology already existed before then. Is it good that most of the PC gaming industry is under Steams thumb? Valve has almost supreme reign over PC gaming, literally.

Go play the shooters before Half-Life came out and the (popular) ones after it came out. It totally changed how people thought about game design, especially the manner in which narrative is delivered. Half-Life is the seismic shift between the Doom / Duke Nukem era and the Call of Duty era. Stories are delivered the way they are today in shooters because that's how Half-Life did it.

You not liking Steam is fair enough, but arguing that they're overrated while also arguing that they've established an 'almost supreme reign' over an open platform is a little contradictory. That's a pretty impressive position to have achieved don't you think?

Agreed and they achieved it because they now offer such a great, consistent and often times fantastically cheap service and their games always come out and change quite a bit of the industry around it, I mean how many games tried to copy the left 4 Dead style of co-op multiplayer within a year of L4D's release. And here's the clincher, it's free to use Steam, who'd have thought it eh?! Ha ha

I've been meaning to buy, but I'm one of those people that never buys games when they're brand new, EVER!

What's the point when I have a huge backlog, I'll still play the same game experience a few months later and so much cheaper than a lot of other folks bought it for?

Will buy this now. Had I known it was so cheap before it had even gone on sale I would've bought it at the current full price.

Sucks. But if you got to find a positive this just means that they get to go out and let loose or get some sleep!
Being selfish and kind of nice at the same time I hope they get in some of the latter and the rest of E3 rules for them due to being so much more rested.
Chin up bombsquad!

I don't tend to think that Kiefer can act, other than shouting "Damn it!" all the time. Hayter has a wider ability to act in my opinion so I kind of feel like this is a downgrade. Oh well, let's hope he can deliver.

I have never seen a room more appropriate for murdering someone. Looking forward to seeing the studio they have this year, sounds like a nice professional place for some semiprofessional shenanigans.

Let's not fool ourselves. There will be no resemblance of professionalism in the shenanigans that occur during their E3 streams, and I for one wouldn't have it any other way.

True both! Can't wait for the stupidity to ensue!

I stopped caring about other gamers being idiotic about scores a year or so ago and only came on here to post this fact. Reviews subjective etc, etc... blah blah, this will keep happening so why bother even thinking about it. The best thing the reviewer can do is not even look at the comments section and he/she won't even know this stupidity exists.
