  • Torrim replied to the topic GoW GotY Edition - Worth It? in the Gears of War 2 board.
it's 15bux for the dark corners which comes with the deleted scene.  It's a good additional chapter, but not worth 15$ alone.  I'd recommend against it and if you really want to find out about it just youtube a video of it.  It's value is in whether or not you play online.

Although it does seem like a great many are making a comeback, I personally haven't been very interested in getting into fighting games outside of Tekken 5, a franchise I've stayed with since Tekken 3 on the original Playstation.  I think it may have to do with my occasional disinterest in a genre, such as with RTS for most of the past decade post Rise of Nations.

Im I willing to pick them up again after seeing them brought back with online play and sharper graphics?  Not likely.  I wouldn't mind trying one game and sticking with it to get better at it, but I always see that as more practice for nothing than fun since I only have a few people who really devote themselves to fighting games.  And they usually devote more time than I do.  My other alternative is to take the game online, but I don't really care for public online matches.

Maybe I can treat this blog as a "this week in games" nerd-out.  Who knows?

I spend the last few hours each night for the last three days or so unwinding to Wipeout Pulse.  Turns out those later difficulties are no joke.  I'm getting gold on most everything, but that's not the same thing as "oh, this is easy."  It's at least making me work out my trigger fingers.  I've finished most of the races except for a few 12 race tournaments, and figure I'm done with the game.  Maybe it'll give me a reason to come back and play with the create-a-grid Racebox.  Besides, 15 hours sounds about right for 8 tracks.  Yeah yeah, that's not many tracks but in this case it's all quality over quantity.  The original SSX had 8 and was one of my favorite games of all time for years.

But I'm shelving it now to move on to Fallout 3.  Bethesda games always sound terrible on my 5.1 headset, but that's no big deal.  I usually don't use them for longer RPGs because I get headphone hair after a while.

It's a nice game from the six hours I've played on it so far.  Game was hard until I found the awesomeness of the sledgehammer.  YES.

I'm in the process of writing a review for Wipeout Pulse.  It's a good game.  Woulda been even better had they released the DLC here in the states, though :(

Hell no.

So far, I've finished very few 2008 games.  The ones I can think of being Dead Space and Burnout Paradise.  Heck, I was finishing up '07 games just until about this fall when even more games kept coming out.  I usually spend the first few quarters of a year finishing up games from the previous year anyway, and this year will be no different.  Sure, there's Resident Evil 5 coming around the corner and a new FEAR game, but I usually wait for price drops anyway.

2008 was an especially good year for games, so it might be a while before I delve into the newest stuff, although I'm looking to catch up on Star Ocean, which means my first 2009 game might be Second Evolution.  We'll see.

Talk me out of doing two things:

-Rebuying Oblivion on the 360 despite having it and Knights of the Nine on the PC.

-Rebuying Final Fantasy I and II on the PSP despite having both Dawn of Souls and Origins.
