5:44am and I was just playing Kairo. Got to the third part of the game and need to take a break. Too many abstract puzzles for this time of the morning.
I think one of the reasons people have reacted like they have to this thread is that we all know people who really are under lock and key(financially, socially, etc.) by their partner to a point where it appears unhealthy.
As far as the PC build, the Reddit thread linked above has a lot of good information. Basically I would go with a decent sized SSD and either an Ivy Bridge or Haswell generation processor. The 3570k and 4670k are both good value choices. AMD is looking more and more appealing for GPU if mantle actually becomes a thing.
I've been using a pair of Sennheiser Amperior headphones as both my chat headset and gaming/music headphones and they've been working pretty well. They are actually on sale at Newegg right now. Love that the PS4 lets you plug anything with a 3.5mm jack into the controller so I don't have to buy something proprietary.
The advantage that a good critic provides is that you can get a feel for their tastes. If you know what somebody likes and find that you can trust them then you can put proper weight into their opinion. That said, I find things like podcasts way more valuable than written reviews these days. People seem to be able to better articulate their feelings through conversation.
The PS4 feels like the 360 did at launch. Cheaper and in position to better execute third party titles. If it continues to better handle third party content than for me the PS4 is the choice. Personally I'm looking forward to next years MLB game in March.
