I haven't played the game, but it seems as though there is a resistance hideout that you visit between missions. I don't know about unique areas to explore sans combat though.

Just bought the GOTY edition on Thursday. I got the strangest craving to give it a try... maybe all these Destiny videos kicking around?

I never understood the sheer, raw hatred for Phil Fish. He said some dickish things on social media from time to time (usually in response to people being even worse to him first), but he was and is an amazingly talented designer and, from what I saw on this site, a legitimately okay dude: smart, well-spoken, doesn't take himself too seriously, and enjoys a drink. He may very well be pretentious, arrogant, and self-absorbed at instances, but, well, so is everyone else, especially if they are creative and/or successful.

This video only highlights how damn sad that whole debacle was. I really want to play more stuff by him (that fucking FEZ 2 teaser with the vector graphics, holy shit!).

@andorski: I'd never recommend a gaming laptop to anyone unless they had a ton of money or went to LAN parties constantly ( and who the heck has LAN parties anymore? Seriously, I want to know them :( ). I'd also add one more negative to your list: you can't tinker or easily upgrade hardware yourself. Big downside to anyone who seriously wants to get into PC gaming.

You're not wrong about the utility of a laptop over a desktop. But, for me personally, I've always had a laptop and a desktop through my academic career. If the choice is one or the other, personal preference has to prevail here, but I would say that you shouldn't discount the value add of a gaming PC as a functional work computer.

PC. Better performance, more variety, modabilty, better sales, and you can use it for work, too.

Consider this: $300-400 computer for basic research, word processing, and web browsing + $400 console = $800 high-mid-range PC. In fact, if you wait until certain parts go on sale, you can build a MONSTER for $800 that will last you for several years or longer with minimal upgrade costs.

The only drawback might be couch co-op, if that's a big deal to you. Although, if you buy a bunch of 360 controllers, you can connect them to a PC. With a wireless adapter, your friends can bring their wireless controllers over too and sync up with little difficulty.

@gaminghooligan: It'll run fine, if you disable certain features like reflections. However, my biggest issue was setting the shadows to high. It caused this really annoying shadow flicker and I had to turn the setting down to medium. Just look up "XCOM: The Bureau shadow flicker" on the Google box.

It was fine for $10 or $12, which is what I paid for it. You will get five bucks of enjoyment out of it. It has an interesting aesthetic and some okay shooting mechanics. The AI is dumb though and the story shits the bed about 3/4ths of the way through. Looks great on PC, too, although I ran into some nasty graphical hiccups because I run an AMD gpu instead of an Nvidia.

I don't care for the new Xbox controller. The sticks are a little too loose.

Soreness and fatigue are fine; they are part of pushing yourself and increasing strength and endurance. If you pay attention to your body, use proper form and technique, and stop/rest at the slightest hint of real pain, you will run into injury or ill effects only very rarely.

That said, if you are running long distances every day and such, it's going to take its toll on your knees, hips, and ankles. Ditto for heavy lifting, even with proper form. Again, listen to your body and rest when you need to. A week on the couch playing video games and some light walking instead of running won't kill you, and, even then, those sorts of injuries usually only result from years and years of intense physical training. Unless you are pushing forty or fifty or are a pro-athelete, I don't think you'd have any problems with a sensible, if vigorous, routine.
