For those curious, I Am Setsuna was explicitly made to be like a "spiritual successor" to Chrono Trigger and the SNES Final Fantasies. The team is a bunch of big fans of those classic games, and they wanted to recreate the feel of a late SNES/early PS1 era JRPG while telling their own story.
From talking to people who have played it, I Am Setsuna is very good and reminiscent of Chrono Trigger gameplay-wise; though the story itself is focused a lot on sadness. Yet, this trailer makes it seem darker than it necessarily is. It isn't one-note sadness. There are light moments along with the dark, similar to many games of that era. By all means sadness plays a big part, but it isn't like it's only dour. It is apparently quite fun while being emotionally heavy.
I hope more folks check it out. It's even coming to Steam, too! If you like classic JRPGs, this seems like a game to support. :)
This stream was so good! Hilarious throughout, plus the game was pretty fun looking. I hope you'll revisit it once the network stuff gets worked out. Just a hoot.
Curious. If they're going to force that devs can't offer games exclusive to it, won't any gains only be marginal? Better load times and maybe less texture pop-in? Does this set the stage for -another- iteration two years from now?
I don't see how this will be much of a boost if devs can't design specifically for it. I wonder how much of a difference this will really make. Seems like less of an upgrade than even the New 3DS vs 3DS.
