I'm finally wrapping up Super since the last 4 blu-rays went on sale recently. It took some effort to get through, for sure. The art is pretty poor for vast majority of the series, which was my major gripe with the whole thing. However, I've been absolutely hooked for the entire Tournament of Power. The art improved dramatically (that filter goes a long way) and the arc is just plain fun. I've got like 6 episodes left and I already know how it all ends, so I think that it's pretty safe to say that I quite enjoyed the entirety of Super. I just really love these characters and their zany world.

All Systems Goku coming back would be pretty rad, of course, but I'd settle for just some general thoughts of Jeff's and Dan's on Super. It really leans in to the goofy shit that those guys seemed to love about DBZ, so I reckon that they'd really like it. And then there's the Broly movie, which might just be my favorite film of all time now. So, yeah, just their quick takes on Super would be nice to hear.

Not super surprising. Much like Drew, Abby always struck me as a "I enjoy a video game or two, but . . ." kind of person, rather than those who are super ingrained like a Jeff Gerstmann or Dan Ryckert. And that, coupled with her age/being younger, was the appeal. She offered a very different perspective from just about every angle, which was fun at best and enlightening at worst.

I'm sure that Abby will go on to do some pretty cool stuff elsewhere.

Personally, I loved Bastion. I enjoyed Transistor but did burn out on it after 6 hours and didn't finish it. I loved Pyre but was pretty horrible at The Rites and played it on "I'm a hopeless baby" difficulty. Hades I am currently super in love with at like 33 hours played. Supergiant certainly has a distinct style - a look and a sound - to their games, but aside from that, all four of them are in completely different genres, with the only comparisons worth drawing being between Bastion and Hades. This is all quite loose and general, but:

Bastion is an isometric action game. Transistor is a turn based strategy game. Pyre is a sports game. Hades is an isometric action game with "Rogue" elements.

That being said, I'd say that if you enjoyed Bastion, then odds are that you'll get a real kick out of Hades. Now, if you for some reason don't like the way that Supergiant games look and sound and tell their stories, then, yeah, their games probably just aren't for you.

GB staff have always implied that CBS loves their subscription model/subscribers, and I don't see why that would suddenly change with new owners (unless their bottom line is completely different, I guess). Worst case scenario, I'm sure that the gang would find easy funding through Patreon. Let's hope that it doesn't come to that, though.

Helluva time to lay people off.

I paid whatever the 60gb PS3 was at launch (600 bucks, was it?) because I really, really needed to play Metal Gear Solid 4 and Devil May Cry 4 as soon as possible. Point being, I'll pay whatever I gotta pay to get the games that I want. I will, however, be surprised if the PS5 has anything that I want that badly before it sees a few price drops. And that's cool because, although I'm willing to pay 600, that's not a thing that I'd be totally thrilled to do.

How hard/obnoxiously Jeff leans into his home streaming setup is something that I find very funny and always will.

Also: this is about a man streaming video games at home. How seriously do we really need to take this?

I'm a 33 year old legit fan of Sonic and have been since I was in, like, preschool. I think that this movie looks fun as hell. Of course it looks stupid. How could it be anything but dumb? Sonic is, of course, hideous, because for some reason they decided to take Sonic's bizarre character design and logic it out for a possible reality, rather than take the Detective Pikachu approach and apply reality (IE: textures) to cartoony looking creatures. One worked super well; the other failed. Guess which one is which.

This is still my favorite "fix:"

No Caption Provided

Like, how hard is that? Nobody wants to see Sonic with joints, small hands and feet, and two eyeballs. Gross.

Anyway, I asked my friend, who has two young kids (6 or so) who love Sonic, what his children thought of the trailer, expecting horror and/or confusion. The kids are fucking stoked to see this thing. Guess that the joke is on all of us super edgy adults poking fun at it, huh?

I fucking hate ads, so, yeah, I totally use adblock. Like others, I will be more than happy to whitelist sites that I enjoy and frequent, so long as they can keep their ads from being intrusive and/or obnoxious. Put some banners on the sides, top or bottom of the page, keep them silent, and we're golden. But as soon as you start to play audio, have shit pop up under my mouse cursor, expect me to sit through a 30 second ad to see 10 seconds of a youtube video, and just generally sully my internet browsing experience, kindly go jump off of a cliff.

Grabbing my attention by annoying me is a surefire way to get me to not purchase your product. Not that I was going to in the first place.

Because I'm in the market for a new one. I had a Yamaha that died twice within the span of three years. It was under warranty the first time, then last week, a year and a half after sending it in and getting it fixed, same issue pops up. And it's not under warranty anymore, of course (I called and asked), so now it's in a few dozen pieces because that's fun to do.

Anyone have experience with a really awesome brand of receiver that might last me more than 3 fucking years? Price isn't an issue, but I'd rather not drop a half a grand on the thing. I have five wired speakers and a sub woofer, which is 5.1, I guess?

Thanks.
