Goddammit, the background music is annoying as SHIT! I'd like to watch this, but that is a fucking deal breaker.

My favorite UPF segment is definitely the RDI Halcyon. The whole thing is just spectacular.

I have to echo this sentiment. I was forced to turn the video off after just a couple of minutes because of the absolutely godawful circus music looping incessantly in the background.

These "best of" compilations are fine, but adding any sort of music typically ruins them. There is just no reason for it...the content is good enough on it's own without adding one's own music. The exception that I can think of is when someone did some heavy video editing at a certain point in a video and added a dubstep drop, which added to the comedic effect of what was happening.

I actually thought parts of it were rather quirky and charming given most of it is from the royalty free music Vinny and drew use before live shows, but I will also add that it was a little too loud for a good portion of the video.

Yeah, I liked the idea, but the first track is too long and too repetitive.

Overall a good video.

Y'all are crazy. I think for compilation videos its just fine to put music over it.

By the way, those songs were used numerous times during past live streams.

@alexandersheen: Nice ear! Most of the music was indeed chosen by consulting Musou's royalty-free thread. Anything else was stolen from Jeff's soundcloud (I think just 'eighty' and the hunked snippet).

Part of the motivation behind the music, beyond how immensely fun it is to me to connect music and images in time, is that I didn't want to step on anyone's toes by sharing almost half an hour of premium content with zero differences from the version people pay for. Like a paywall for your ears! :p

I definitely understand the perspective of everyone who's not into it, though, and I probably got a bit carried away since I have such rare opportunities to do stuff like this. I'm most frustrated to hear that the levels weren't so hot for some people. I thought I'd managed to make most of it fit and checked on a couple of different setups (headphones/speakers/etc.) to try to be sure. I'm super apologetic about that.

Anyways, thanks for all of the feedback, good or bad! It's super helpful and I may even see what I can do to make a less-overbearing version of this one once I'm no longer a thousand miles away from the only computer I have access to that can render large videos.

@ultrapeanut: I liked the video and the music if that makes you feel better. And keep up the good work.

I liked the music, it would have lacked something without the music. I don't think the clips would flow together nearly as well without it.

My lady and I didn't mind the music--but it was mixed a bit weird at times. Maybe tone it way down? Though you already mentioned that you were going to experiment with different setups for levels, so that's pretty much covered anyway.

Yeah, I think figuring out the sound levels is goal number one when I get back home. I vacillated from "this is too loud" to "this is too quiet" so often the last time, but now I'll just err on the latter side.
