Laser surgery!

Actually, I had laser sugery done ten years ago and went from brutal vision to better than 20/20, but now find myself needing glasses again because of  astigmatism . I'll be buying contacts again if my vision deteriorates further. I just prefer not to wear glasses.

<- From the Dragon Age: Origins "Sacred Ashes" trailer. I love dragon age, and the trailer was sick. I got the mod where you can alter the main character's appearance to be this dude.

Baldur's Gate II. I loved the first one, but the second one's epic nature really knocked it out of the park.

I like it.  My like for this also extends to exclusive in game items for collector's editions.

I always feel kinda rewarded for the games I am a rabid "Day One" nut for. Take Starcraft II. It's a definite Day One for me. I'm following it on newsfeeds, I pay attention to any and all release details, and I've pre-ordered the collector's edition. I don't do this with all games but with the ones I do, it's nice to get a little perk for being so devoted, you know?  Mass Effect 2 was the same for me.

I'm a mountie.

$75k a year. I get full medical and dental paid for (I don't pay for any prescriptions or specialist care) and great life insurance for my family.  I get 4 weeks vacation a year (paid of course) and plenty of opportunity for overtime. With overtime, it's fairly common to make $85-95k a year. And I'm still at the lowest rank!

It's a fun fucking job too. Except for being shot at, hated, and scrutinized by the public and media heh.

The 13th Warrior.
Beowulf

I enjoyed both of these movies quite a bit.

@ArchScabby:
If I sounded accusingly towards you, sir, I've done you a disservice. The vast majority of people are not police haters. But there are tons of people who would rather not hang out around cops. I know the reason, even if a lot of my fellow officers have forgotten. A simple thing like getting a ticket for speeding can be very upsetting...even traumatic for the average citizen. If a cop makes it worse by acting like the speeding was a personal attack against him, that only creates further tension. It's stupid, and most police forces should have better and ongoing training on how to deal with people.

@bhhawks78:
That is an excellent point. My wife is from the US. She says the same thing, tbh. I think there tends to be a little more "power tripping" in the states. That could just be my own ignorance though.

Having said all that, I know there are douchebag cops. Hell, I've worked with some. I was assigned to one in particular to coach him on dealing with people. I've always tried to make my own dealings with public as professional and positive as possible. It can get difficult when you are scarred shitless though.

I deal with cops all the time. I am one.

10 year veteran, and in charge of a few other guys. Right now, I ensure the schools in our province (I'm a mountie) are trained and prepared for an active shooter incident. I work my ass off 2hrs overtime every damn day trying my best to make sure no kids die.
I've been stabbed, shot at. I've been in high speed chases. I've received an award from the Lieutenant Governor for bravery (ran into a burning house to pull out two drunks who were passed out). My family has been threatened because of my job. I've had run-ins with Hells Angels and other gangs. It's fucking scary sometimes, being a cop.   Not to mention how soul-crushingly horrible it is to deliver next of kin notices.

To all the posters who are bitching about a dick cop, I'm sorry. Most times we have good reasons for what we do, but other times....well there are assholes in every workplace. Police Work is no different.

Hamburgers are sandwiches. In a basic sort of way.... Hamburgers are evolved sandwiches, I suppose.
