I should have done this with Dragon Age Origins. A year later and I never got around to finishing it. During the Steam holiday sale, I got the ultimate edition with all the DLC and the retail expansion that I never bothered to buy for less than $30.

Also the whole "everyone but Steam gets goodies" thing is a little annoying, but whatever. I can count on one hand the number of games with day 1 included DLC that was worth a damn.

Why not just give them a crack at Wasteland, licensing issues non-withstanding?  It isn't all that different than the early Wizardry games in terms of game play, and that series was super big over there.

" If there's something people need to learn to do in BFBC2 it surely is to play like a team. Half of the time I play this game online I get fucking angry when dickwads do anything but actually try to move forward and get the objectives. Instead, they keep using the Recon class and won't do fucking shit.  So yeah, DICE is totally doing the right move here. Looking forward to the 21st. Probably going to get a code from a friend who works at DICE and shoot some people on the release. "
Ah yes but see, this dick waddery is what makes the game more fun if you have a couple buddies to squad up with. Even just 2 other people working with you and you can feel like a bleeding action movie hero as you roll over all the people who think they are playing MW2 with tanks. You might still lose the match if the average IQ of the rest of your team is in the slow witted houseplant level but you will have a blast anyway.

@Riboflavin:  I doubt it will be JC, more likely it is Tracer Tong, or Walter Simons.

I may be unique in regards to this, but I don't get that bent out of shape over the whole "content is already on the disc" shtick. I agree that it is very much against the spirit of what DLC should be, but whatever, a company can be as big of a douche bag as they want, I am not obligated to buy their stuff. What annoys me more about this round of DLC, is that by the sounds of it, it isn't worth the cash.

We get one actual quest with a new area, and then a couple arena type mini-games (the fantasy game equivalent of a zombie mode at this point) and a few over powered items to break the dog. Lovely. Oh, and I can spend money for a couple of new hairstyles and clothing. You know, the type of crap that were there a way to mod the game, I could get for free. They are going to have to do better than this if they want my money.

@SeriouslyNow: Cheating is cheating. I can break your fingers and steal your property cards in monopoly even though it isn't specifically forbidden in the instructions, and I doubt that you are going to blame Parker Brothers for putting a flaw in the game in that case.

@Afroman269: Parent's job, not the store's. The little brats have to be getting the money from somewhere do they not? If junior is allowed to have whatever he wants with no parental guidance, that kid and likely society at large is going to have a bigger problem down the road.

@shenstra: The current DLC is more intended as post game content. You can enter any of them at any time, but Zombies and Knoxx will gain you levels and loot that the main campaign will not adjust for meaning that it will become terminally easy (or easier depending on your opinion of the games difficulty in the first place)

In your position, I would at least wait until they announce when the GOTY edition will be available on your side of the pond and decide based on your ability to wait that long. The GOTY will likely be cheaper than buying all the DLC ala carte. Mad Moxxi's Dome is totally skip-able by the way.

All isometric RPGs are Diablo 2 clones,
just like all class based team shooters are team fortress 2 clones,
and all Indie side-scrolling exploration shooters are Cavestory ripoffs.
Lot of parrots around these days.

Reminds me a lot of Soulblazer.

As for what I think about this? Despite all the venom it gets from the (jaded and bitter) Might and Magic community, Heroes V was a worthy successor to the franchise. I still care enough to see how this one ends up.   "
5's biggest problem was that the AI was horrible. Unforgivably horrible, and I still cannot fathom how a turn based strategy game that was primarily unaltered from HOMM3 (which ran like a charm, had more complex maps and had 6+ AI opponents' turns requiring less than 15 seconds total for all 6 even back in 2000) had AI turns on most maps taking upwards of several minutes to complete. Never mind that the random map generator included with the expansions often creates unpassable maps, and would often have AI opponents turtled up in their starting city 40 or 50 rounds into the game. I actually just fired this up earlier today (a pure coincidence) and was saddened to see that even on a machine many years more advanced than the "recommended" system at the time of publication, I still had to sit and wait forever during AI turns on maps with multiple AI opponents.

The sad thing  though, is that I wanted to like this game more than number 3. I liked that each faction now had its own city gimmick, and that more of the troops had special abilities making the units of different races play very differently from one another. I loved seeing the heroes participating in battle, and it actually made the warrior heroes as cool as the wizards (the extra attack and defense bonuses always made them as effective, but it was nice to have a targeted ability) I also liked the art style over the original (which always reminded me of amateur heavy metal album cover imitation art). It just wasn't as good or nearly as much fun as 3 though. Hopefully 6 gets it right again.
