Halo review (Xbox) 0

HALO (XBOX; 2001) - Graphics & AudioAs I review this game I will try to keep it in perspective and review it as a game released during the year it came out like I try to do with all games I review after the fact. Halo's graphics are superb and are no doubt at the top of the heap and the audio is equally top notch. Great sound effects also help to create an atmosphere that few could match at the time. Unfortunately, the visuals are brought down by the incessant reuse of the same textures ove...

Ultimate Mortal Kombat (DS) review 2

Ultimate Mortal Kombat for DS has arrived and it is a compilation of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Puzzle Kombat from Mortal Kombat Deception and both are now on the go and still online. Anyone who is thinking about picking this up already knows what the draw is here: Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on the go and with online multiplayer. Anybody else who wonders what the fuss is about need not apply. Single player experience is non-existent too since the usual impossible to beat CPU fighters after you ...

Erementar Gerad (PS2) review 0

Erementar Gerad is a fighting game based on an anime/manga series of the same name and it is about as average as you can get. This game is a 3D cel-shaded fighter that has decent graphics and good sound, specifically the voice acting and music standout here, but the sound effects are very standard. Everything else about this game is very archaic as far as 3D fighters go. In order to sidestep you have to press L1 or L2 depending on which direction you want to go and the combo system is made up c...

Game Center CX: Arino no Chousenjou (DS) review 0

Game Center CX: Arino no Chousenjou is based on the popular Japanese video game show, Game Center CX. It stars comedian Shinya Arino who tries throughout an episode to complete a video game, typically from the Famicom (NES) and Super Famicom (SNES). Hilarious antics ensue when Arino reacts to his defeats and triumphs over these typically difficult games. This DS game attempts to recreate the feeling of the 8-bit Nintendo days with eight games that were specifically created for this title. All e...

Cosmic Race (PS1) review 0

Cosmic Race is as bad as your mind will allow you to comprehend and then it is even worse than that!PRESENTATION: 1.0 Cosmic Race came out for the PlayStation in January of 1995, a full eight months before the system even hit North America and already the worst game on the system was already out in Japan! GRAPHICS: 1.0 The graphics look like they came from the original PlayStation SDK minimally altered and slapped into the game. SOUND: 1.0 The music is so forgettable that even after I have ...

Contra 4 (DS) review 1

Presentation: 5 The moment you reach the title screen and hear the classic, but reworked Contra title screen music, you know it's totally on like its the late 1980s all over again! There are also lots of homages to earlier Contra games in the level design, enemies, and bosses that will make Contra fans squeal with glee! Graphics: 4 While good, the graphics won't blow you away, even for DS standards. Don't let that worry you though since they are still very good and highly resemble Contra III's ...

SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 (PSP) review 0

PRESENTATION: 2 out of 5 This compilation has a very basic and mostly generic menu system to select your games from. None of it looks particularly great, but it isn't bottom of the barrel either. The loading times are also a little on the long side, especially when initially booting the game. There is also a small problem with not being able to save the setting for the aspect ratio. All other settings will save and load later on as expected, but the aspect ratio setting will never save for som...
