Ok, first things first, I've never had a blog, ever, my live isn't interesting enough to validate one, but since it's free here and it's a gaming site, I guess I can write something gaming related. As you might have noticed from that first sentence I write horrible run-on sentences, that is how I think, live with it.

Anyway, you can find out a little about me in my profile, that should give you some idea where this all stems from, but mainly it's all just cos I'm a bitter old gamer...
Now get off my lawn, you damn punk kids and your techno music!

Today I don't have much gaming related things to do, as I'm about to get me some beer and maybe some JD, it's poker night.

Yesterday, however, I played some GTA 4 LATD. Got me the "club bikers of their bikes" achievement. Also been doing a bunch of gang wars to raise the level of my guys, tho I seem to kill them more myself than the enemy does, they shouldn't run into my line of fire, should they :)

So, some random thoughts on LATD.

Overall I find LATD a bit better than the original game, maybe cos I can identify more with the biker lifestyle than with whatever it was Nico was doing (tho I'm an immigrant of sorts too since I'm a finn living in Sweden). Maybe the music has something to do with that as well, it is so much better in the dlc, I mean Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, this is all the shit I grew up listening and still do. And speaking of music, isn't it funny how the song lyrics seem to fit the theme: I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride, I'm wanted...

Never was a big fan of the mini games and all the dating stuff, so I'm happy there is no need for that, achievement or story wise. The only thing I've tried so far is the air hockey and the controller is horrible for that game, ended up giving my opponent more points in every game due to it.

The new guns are pretty cool too, tho I haven't seen the auto-shotgun from the trailer, I hope it's there tho. The auto-pistol is definetly cool, always had problems mowing down cops in the early stages with just a pistol. And being able to call up Terry for a new vest and ammo is really nice and it's cheaper too, which is awesome, tho I'm about half in the story line (I guess) and definetly not as rich as Nico, but have about 50k, so it's not like I need the cheaper guns.

I've heard a lot of complaints on the controls of GTA4, some from the Bombcast and other places as well, I don't know where this comes from, I find the controls fine.
Maybe it's cos I've played the last 2 GTAs on a console and I find the controls very easy now. I tried GTA: SA on the PC after I beat it on a PS2 and man that was such a pain in the ass, due to the controls, that at a certain point I had give up cos the controller was just getting in the way too much. Never had those issue on a console, it was especially bad when going from a vehicle to foot, for some reason the controls just didn't do what I knew they can do on a console.
So, maybe someone can enlighten me on exactly what is so wrong with the controls?

Interesting side note, on a PS2 where I played GTA:SA I played the story thru and forgot the rest of the game, never even trying to complete 100% but on an Xbox 360 I find myself doing a lot of stuff even after finishing the story, it's all due to achievements. Of course if the game was shit I wouldn't be doing that, but since I like the game I find myself going for the achievements. I have to thank MS for adding that feature cos now it means I get more value from my games :) Of course I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so that might have something to do with it also.

Anyway, now I'm off to the liquir store.
Have a good one.
