  • This looks horrible.  What is M$ thinking???  I already own a Wii... why would I want that on my 360???  Those are two completely different experiences.

  • Notice that article says the average age of the gamer, and doesn't break down the age brackets at all.  Just because the average age is 35, doesn't mean that 'most' gamers are 35 years of age.  The average age of the game purchaser is 40, which means the person buying is older, and the person playing, is younger (kids). While it may be true that there are a lot of mature ...

  • Tyson hard?  Really?  Tyson had a very straight forward pattern to follow to beat him.  That one punch knock down sucked, but if you dodged that, he was pretty easy to take out.  I'm curious about this game.  The graphics don't look all that jazzy, is it a downloadable content game, or is it a regular game you have to purchase at the local game store?

  • Considering how many games I own, and the fact that I own 2 XBox 360s, I don't think I'm out to 'hate' on the 360.I tend to drop 20 to 30 hours a week into gaming with most of it spent on the XBox 360.  For the last year played a ton of APF2K8 (www.2kfootballlstrategy.com), where I was pressing the A button quite often to run.  E_Rock suggested that we ...

  • I don't get the whole Wii wanna-be approach that M$ is now embarking on. Hardare failures aside, the XBox 360 experience has been hands down the best of the 3 consoles.  Why mess with it?

  • *sigh* No controllers have been thrown.  How can you make that comment after I clearly shown that literally every other console controller that I have owned still works.  I even have my Atari paddles which were notorious for failing in their day.On the XBox 360 controllers, the buttons simply fail to spring back properly.

  • MB said: "I had an issue with a wireless controller where the right trigger lost it's springiness...Microsoft replaced it under warranty.  Other than that, no problems and I've never heard of anyone complaining about the 360 controllers, either." Do know what the warranty period for the controller was?  Did it require a receipt, or is the model number enough?

  • You guys need to read my blog, I have my controllers from every other console I have ever owned, no problems.  XBox 360 I have had 4 controllers that have failed (notice the word failed, and not broken).  The controllers aren't being abused, they are simply failing, but all in the same way, the buttons quit responding.  On 3 of them, it was the 'A' button, and on one it ...

  • Roughly 4 months ago, I had another XBox 360 controller go bad on me. On this one, the X button was sticking. In and of itself, a single controller failure wouldn't be that big of a deal, but this isn't the first time I have had a controller fail. If fact, in 2 years, that was the 3rd bad controller. Well, the problem doesn't end there, as of last night, ...

  • Nice cover art, but horrible idea for a game.  Transformers fight (protect or destroy), they don't race.  This sounds more like a gimmicky game that's taking advantage of the Transformers license rather than offering a substantial gaming experience for the player.

The Giant Bomb is a great idea, yet here I am, finding it extremely difficult to support the site.

I have a lot of respect for Brad and especially Jeff with regards to their historical work, and what they have done thus far with this site.  Unfortunately, they have decided to allow adult oriented content including questionable images, foul language, and the glamorization of alcohol consumption to permeate their work.

On a site dedicated to games, who thousands upon thousands of impressionable kids visit for information, they push forward activities that are considered inappropriate in most adult situations and especially in the life of children.

What's worse, is there are videos of the gaming companies, partaking in the exact same activities.  Gaming companies are not only promoting their games to the kids on this site, they are engaging in these activities on videos that are posted on the site.  Due to the recklessness of these companies and the complete lack of responsibility they have shown to the welfare of the kids, I will never purchase one of their games.

Roughly 4 months ago, I had another XBox 360 controller go bad on me. On this one, the X button was sticking. In and of itself, a single controller failure wouldn't be that big of a deal, but this isn't the first time I have had a controller fail. If fact, in 2 years, that was the 3rd bad controller. Well, the problem doesn't end there, as of last night, I had my 4th controller fail.

4 controllers in 2 years. Lets put this in perspective with regards to the other consoles that I have owned over the years:

  • Atari - still have original controllers
  • Nintendo - still have original controllers
  • Sega Genesis - still have original controllers
  • Super Nintendo - still have original controllers
  • PS1 - still have original controllers
  • DreamCast - still have original controllers
  • PS2 - still have original controllers
  • XBox - still have original controllers
  • Wii - still have original controllers
  • PS3 - still have original controllers

See a pattern there? Perhaps I have been lucky, but I have never had to purchase a controller, ever. Literally ever.

  • XBox 360 - purchased 4 replacement controllers

All 4 failed controllers have had the exact same problem. The buttons fail to popup properly after being pressed. On 3 of the controllers it was the 'A' button, and on one it was the 'Y' button.

4 XBox 360 Controllers = $160

That's right, $160 for nothing more than replacing faulty controllers.

Is there a warranty plan?

Well, yes, I'm sure there is one, but good luck at trying to figure it out. I searched the web and while I found a ton of information on the XBox 360 console, I couldn't find anything with regards to the controllers.

Are the XBox 360 controllers issues confined to me alone, or have you experienced problems as well? Please sound off and let me know!

That's all for now, I'm off to the store to purchase my 5th controller.

Jeff Gertsman recently recounted us with his tale of the most memorable DreamCast games, accessories, and memories, so I thought I would share mine.

What I remember most about the Sega DreamCast is moving to Austin into a run down Apartment complex.  My single apartment wasn't ready, so they put me in a 2 bedroom that had no furniture, it was empty, bare, desolate even.  It felt like I was squatting in someone elses house, and they could come home at any second.  To further the sense of unease, the apartment was on the 3rd floor and overlooked, what else, a junkyard.  Run down cars rusted to their core with weeds 3 feet high and random tires littered the landscape.

The first night there, it rained, and I mean it poured.  So what else to do in a strange city, in a strange apartment, with an eerie lanscape, but to put in a copy of Resident Evil:  Code Veronica and play it!

Now, I'm not much for scary games, as they usually don't scare me, any more than movies.  However, this setting, coupled with this game, proved for a really tense experience.  At times the lightening would strike at just the right time to scare the !@#$ out of me, and at other times, the rain would let down at really suspensful times.   It was an amazing experience, and to this date remains one of my most memorable gaming experiences regardless of Platform.
