Albummer is already an advertisement. GB gets some free advertisement from 2M2M, and 2M2M gets some free advertisement on GB.

I'm sure this was the whole point of contractors - they come in, do a show, and go, but the advert lives forever. GB gets some exposure through channels it might not normally find an audience, and so do the contractors. I have no doubt that soon there will be referral links to 2M2M (and other contractors) somewhere here on the website.

edit: To be clear, it's not the content that they're trying to advertise, it's the people making it.

Here's how you fix GiantBomb:

• Get back into the studio asap. Ideally, I would like all content to come from the studio. The worst part for me since the pandemic is the WFH streams, even when streaming as a group. Just not the same chemistry. Feels very stilted.
• Get rid of contractors. I don't want random people coming in and out constantly, even if I know who they are. It's not why I've been a fan of GB. I like a core group who can establish a repertoire, running jokes, face-to-face collaboration etc. (also, please don't hire anyone whose brand of comedy is nothing other than ass, poop, butt, fart, jokes. I expect that sort of stuff from YouTube, not GB)
• More content. I understand a lot of stuff is happening, but it's getting ridiculous now. YouTubers can put out content daily yet GB - backed by a wealthy company, staffed with 4/5 regulars, along now with contractors - cannot? I really don't get why they can't do a short quick look regularly like the old days.
• More weird shows that add an extra layer to just playing the game; Mario Sunshine, Breaking Brad, Demo derby, stuff like that.

My apologies if I come across as insensitive or oblivious to the current GB situation. I'm just sharing what I think with others on a discussion forum. Really hope the website gets back to its best.

Yeah hi. I've been a premium member pretty much since it started. I can afford it so will keep on paying, however I agree with some here that the sub is rather expensive considering the quality of the content has gone down during the pandemic IMO. I think it would be better if GB made all video/podcast content free for all, and setup a Patreon style pay system for those who would still like to chuck the team a few extra pennies.

I just read One Two Three Four - a collage of Beatles anecdotes. Genuinely funny, revealing, and surprisingly touching. I'd recommend even if you're not into the Fab 4.

@captain_insano: I work at a decent job. Flexible hours. I can work from home whenever I feel like it (without even telling anyone) but I still have to work all the way up to a few days before Christmas. I can't think of any other company or business that doesn't here in the UK. Maybe in the USA it's different.

I just don't see the point. I already know which each member of the GB family likes and dislikes this year. GOTY doesn't help me make a decision on buying a game like reviews as I've most likely already played or dismissed the game when it was first released. It doesn't do anything for me and I learn nothing.

I understand that quick look quantity dies down after November, but I'd much rather have a bunch of videos like Game Tapes, Old Games Show, Breaking Brad or something else like that rather than a few podcasts and maybe another look at some of the best games.

It's really annoying checking the site every day in December to find no new content.

I really fucking hate GotY stuff. The whole site effectively gets shut down for a month so at the end they can tell us that they think game is the best this year. So what? I really couldn't care less. I would rather have regular content than a few podcasts for a month. I really don't see the purpose of GotY and the importance that comes with it.
