I hope it ends up being really interesting as you said the chapter you played was, Patrick. Because as it stands, the trailer and his words make it sound really, really slow and uninspired.

Come on, it's always just friends rambling and not some secret Deep Throat scamming around and such. This isn't a story, or even really an interest. It's overanalyzing Patrick just throwing out random ideas he's probably discussed with colleagues.

I have both consoles now, but got a PS3 first in 2010 (pulled the next-gen trigger after being a steam guy for Red Dead) and that was my first real taste of accumulating trophies. While I would certainly say I don't care and wouldn't miss them if they were gone, I totally like being able to look back through them and have some kind of stupid level system telling me how much I've played PS3 games compared to my friends, etc. I would actually appreciate if they reset the level on each console, as I won't really give a shit how much I played on the last console when I have a shiny new box, and I want to make new memories on it. I won't really care about 100%ing LA Noire when I'm looking back on my trophies for Second Son and The Order.

Consoles are what made HDTV's viable, and I think in very many ways that people take HD very seriously. But yeah, a lot of games run even in 480p still, and I don't even think the 360 UI goes above 720p, even if its movies can. But this cycle will be just like every other - high res, great-looking, 60fps games at the start - and then slowly pushing and pushing the edge until some parts (first framerate, then res as we move to 4K or something) fall over a little bit.

I'm just going to claim that the i5 2500k is great. Doesn't overheat, works just as great as an i7 generally, and is priced perfectly. Go i5, hardcore. As for graphics, if you want it to look really nice you're going to want a 400 or 500 series gtx, but those might go out of your budget range. The 560ti is a great card, but yeah, the 480 will work fine, especially with an i5 as they're at about the same performance level and will complement each other well.
