Every day that goes by I think of Ryan Davis and how his voice helped me go to sleep at night. I fucking miss that guy.

BEST Fighting Games EVER

I love the intimate levels of punching my opponent in the face; kicking in his skull, and sending him twirling across the stage in an epic finish. I love fighting games, and I always will. These are probably the best fighting games period, and I'll explain why.

List items

  • Specifically version 3.2. The US version of DOA3 is hard to like, but DOA3.2 is the Japanese import that tweaks stun properties, moves, and adds more attacks for characters. DOA3.2 is the pioneer of environmental fighters, and is a truly intense experience for 3D fighting fans. It packs a stellar soundtrack and revolutionary animation and graphics.

  • The visual presentation blows my mind, and the character balance is insane and well scouted. T.O.P is a great mechanic layered on top of one the most overlooked fighters of all time, and easily the best game produced by SNK.

  • This game will not only force you to grow as a gamer, but as a person. It takes real dedication, self control, and love to pull of the best looking combos this game has to offer. If you want a rewarding classic, look no further.

  • One of the staples of fighting games. Maybe not many characters, maybe some bugs here and there, but overall; no one can argue that this is the most iconic game in fighting history and proves that simplicity can exert complexity.

  • This wasn't a reboot -- this is a new game franchise called Mortal Kombat. The tag mode is very impressive here and required an immense amount of skill and patience. The second thing Mortal Kombat revolutionized was story in fighting games. Holy shit the story was engaging and exciting, and showcased Mortal Kombat perfectly.

  • Think underground tournaments for this one. GGX2 was so competitively successful because of a few factors: 1. Only the truly precise can win. 2. Throws require more mastery w/ air grabs and the ability of being able to throw during recovery.

  • The most underrated game I've ever played. This is a redefined environmental fighter with the beautiful inclusion of Virtua Fighter characters. Fantastic level design and characters create an experience that other fighting games just can't compete with. Guaranteed combos off environmental level design, Critical Bursts which create long, beautiful combo strings, sit-down, limbo and critical stuns that set the tone for unholdable combos.

DOA5 doesn't have Aerosmith, but it is a community driven fighter that can only get better with an upcoming patch.

  • Like Street Fighter 2: World Warrior, it's impossible to not mention Tekken 3 in a "best fighting game" list. This is the best selling fighter of all time, and put 3D fighters on the map. The characters, soundtrack and graphics created a truly killer production that has never been replicated. Every fighting game fan should own this not only for its competitive nature, but because of its value in the genre.

  • Better than all the Soul Calibur games combined, this Soul actually has Soul. Great characters, a solid story that creates a universe for these characters; and truly great weapon-based gameplay. This is Tekken with swords.

  • Probably the first truly solid portable fighting game, and that in its own right is a quite a feet.

TDR makes sense for what it is and is practically flawless for what it is.
