Every Video Game I've Ever Beaten.

Basically a list of all the games I have beaten in my life. I know it looks short, but that is due to the site not listing a few obscure games and because they don't register multiple versions of a game, instead preferring to umbrella them all into one page. In either case...I don't know what to do, honestly. Just trust me on the number, I have a much more complete list that solves all these problems.

I'd like to try it, too, especially since it's my only chance of blogging about certain Samurai Shodown games (I've already beaten 2 and 3 black-screens at Rimururu on the PS1).

Why do you care about playing Samurai Shodown when you have a lot of the Metal Slug games to finish off?

I also have pretty much every King of Fighters left, since I stopped playing after the first one. It was a different time; I didn't know the rule about fighting series (that unless samurai are involved, the first entry will always suck).

I haven't played many fighting games, mostly because I absolutely suck at them.

I suck at Oblivion, but I'm still plowing through that. On the subject, I've the odd feeling that my Oblivion blog will feature an oddly high amount of Professor Brother references.

Set the gameplay difficulty down to the easiest, it's a lot more fun that way. That's what I did for both Oblivion and Fallout 3.

No, for several reasons. First, Fallout 3 was still OK on the Normal difficulty. Oblivion's a helluva lot like it, only slightly worse.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. At least Fallout 3 didn't have glitchy guys taking swigs whenever I talked to them...which is happening RIGHT NOW. As I type, this guy is growing a second mouth just so he can continue drinking mid-conversation.

But what Fallout 3 DID have is:

  •
    Terrible gunplay (VATS sucked too)
  • Zero interesting characters (at least the world of Oblivion is filled with people to interact with)
  • Boring environments (needs some color)
  • Uninteresting story with an ending that rivals Halo 2 (Oblivion's story isn't an epic masterpiece, but at least it isn't a turd)

Ah, but at least Fallout 3 had:

  • a decent character creation system.
  • straightforward dialogue mechanics.
  • gameplay that wasn't repetitive out the ass.
  • a proper Bushwald Sexyface.

Character customization in both games was crap. I never found that dialogue effected much of what I did in Fallout 3. And as for repetitivness... Fallout 3 had that issue times ten. If you get into the Thieves' Guild and the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion then things are a lot of fun and each quest really varies from "go here, slash that, loot this."

At least in Fallout 3, I could get a decent mustache. Here, you either go full beard or bare. Bushwald Sexyface demands more. Also, I don't remember Fallout 3 being too repetitive. At least it didn't make a third of the game consist of going through Oblivion Gates and doing the exact damned thing over and over again because you're the only person in the world who knows how to handle this shit.

...there are only about three Oblivion Gates that you're required to go in. You don't have to close every single one.

It's definitely more than three. There's one at Kavacht, and a fuckton more for the Bruma thing.

It's completely optional to go in all of those for Bruma. That's just to get more reinforcements. I only went in one for Bruma to get one extra soldier for when you go into a great Oblivion gate. Really, the only reason I could think of to go into every gate is to gather alchemy ingrediants or to get the Daedra armor, but you can get both of those elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure it specifically says "Optional," but I may be misremembering. You should just return to the Cloud Ruler Temple and talk to Martin, he should tell you to go find a Daedric Artifact or something like that. Unless you've already given him the Daedric Artifact, in which case he'll need something that I can't recall at this time.

Out of curiosity, which artifact did you give him? Also, you should really look up duplication and infinite money glitches, because those are REALLY helpful if you want to get into the Black Soul Gem and weapon/spell creation business (that is, if you're even planning on finishiing the Mage's Guild questline).

I gave him the Azura one you get for killing those guys, for whatever reason. I hated that mission. Anyway, I'm still dealing with mundane glitches like "walk up mountains" and "animations are fucked up in general."

YOU GAVE HIM AZURA'S STAR? That's literally one of the most useful Daedric Artifacts. You should've given him something useless... like the Wabbajack.

I didn't know that you could use them. Or that he only needed one. He made it clear that he needs them all. I tried killing that paradise guy before, but he zapped away before I could. Even when he was summoning it, I couldn't hit him.

Well... Azura's Star doesn't matter if you start duplicating Soul Gems. I think that you should pay a little more attention to dialogue and what the quest description is, because you're getting a lot of things confused.

I've been kicking things into high gear on this trip. I played through Shadow of the Ninja, and Big Bang Mini will likely be completed this evening, however I'm leaving for five days without electricity, so you have a chance to get ahead.

I think that all this LSD is going to get to your head and might drive you insane, but if Takeshi's Challenge, Custer's Revenge, and Superman 64 hasn't... I don't know what will. Are you seriously going to play LSD for 100 days straight?

100 in-game days, mind you, which usually last 10 minutes max. So, let me do some calculations....it should take less than a day if I play it through one sitting. Even then, though, I've already completed about 12 days or so.

Hmmm... I was hoping that that would hinder you while I was away. But no matter.

I've decided to focus on the NES and arcade/Neo Geo platforms until I hit all of the "good" games from both of those platforms, and then maybe move onto another select two platforms. I'm thinking SNES/Genesis next.

All of the ones mentioned do end. Beat-em-ups and shooters (unless we're talking about Galaxian or Galaga I guess) don't go on indefinitely.

But seriously. Play Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara. It's the best beat-em-up I've played aside from Streets of Rage 2. Some seriously high quality stuff in there. And if you don't feel right beating an arcade game, play through it on the Saturn on Dungeons & Dragons Collection.

Saturn emulation's a bitch. There's only one stable emulator, and even that's incredibly touchy. I used to be able to do it, but I fucked up the virtual drive thing, and there's no way to fix it. Sad, too, since I have quite a few Saturn games gathering dust on my shrinking list of games to beat.

Is it Yabuase? I've heard that Saturn is incredibly difficult to emulate. I tried running Guardian Heroes once but it didn't manage to get past the character selection screen.

Dreamcast emulation is a little bit more straightforward, although no stable emulator so far can run many games in a playable speed. Jet Grind Radio or Set Radio or whatever ran at 6% speed when I tried it, but it was on the list of incompatible games so I guess I could just try Shenmue or what have you...

Nope, SSF. Christ, I wish the virtual drives worked again. I've tried Dreamcast emulation, but I couldn't even get the polygons to show up properly. There's no way I could do something like Sonic Adventure or Phantasy Star Online.

Huh... well I think Yabuase or whatever has a Windows version so you should investigate that.

I don't think there's a stable Dreamcast emulator that can play fast-paced games yet. Maybe some RPGs, but nothing action and speed oriented like Sonic.

Tried Yabuase once, but it ran Shienryu sideways with scanlines. Keep in mind that Shienryu's a 2D piece of shit shooter (shioteru). Again, I haven't been able to emulate Dreamcast games, like, at all. It's not action stuff, it's more like anything.

Wait, Maine? I can think of several things wrong with that:

  1. You're from Florida, right? I thought most people went from Maine to Florida, not the other way around.
  2. Maine is where Silent Hill is.
  3. Why not go some place with something to do?

Anyway, I've been spending my time beating games. Hell, I'm already doing my next blog.

Maine is nice, like, one month a year. I'm visiting some family friends in New Hampshire, and we decided to go camping in Maine for the week.

That's frightening. I did hear something moving in the campground the other night.

I had lobsters for $2.50 a pound, so that was pretty sweet.

What games did you beat? Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara? Shock Troopers?
