Come on. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. It's in every game ever: something happens that makes a character say "[NAME]...". It can express a wide variety of emotions, from concern to contempt to clunky writing, because this usually appears in text-based games with no voice acting or inflection. So many games use it that it's hard to count them all. But that's exactly what I plan to do, and you can help! Just post an example of a game that uses it in the comments or whatever. Proof would be nice. (I won't use proof, because I'll just chronicle this through personal experience.)

Pretty certain that just about every single JRPG uses "[CHARACTER NAME]![ELLIPSES!]..." so there's no point in listing JRPGs out.

I'd say there's all the point in the world. The more the merrier.

@Video_Game_King: Then get right to it! You've plenty of time, no?

Happens right at the beginning of Chrono Trigger, with Crono's mother waking him up with a vague "Crono..."

I'm sure I can find more. Will be back!

Well good luck with this one buddy.

@video_game_king It's happened half a dozen times in this chapter of Yakuza 2 alone. I think it really is just a dramatic Japanese thing that's gotten sort of ubiquitous.

Even so, I figured we had a page for this by now. Or at the very least a sub-category within that Subtitled Silence page.

I'd like to argue with you, but I don't have a single Western game on here. I think that may be because the list is incomplete, though.

Also, I'm gonna need some proof on the Yakuza front. It's at the top....I think.

I think Squall from FF8 likes to do the "..." line.

There any "Squall..." or "Rinoa..." or "Irvine..."? (Irvine was the cowboy dude's name, right? It's been a while since I've touched the game.)

search for "Squall..." in

and you'll find quite a few :)
